MotoeXotica Classic Cars rarely states “one of a kind”, perhaps we should say #1 of only fifty Squire SS-100 ever produced! This low mileage, first example has been lovingly cared for by the same family for 20 years! The Squire SS100 is an almost exact, full size replica of the 1939-1939 Jaguar SS-100. The car was commissioned by Auto Sport Importers, Inc. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and made by Automobili Intermeccanica in Trofarello, Italy between 1970 and 1975, reportedly by Fiat technicians who were moonlighting evenings and weekends.

The driving force behind the creation of the Squire SS100 was 1950’s Philadelphia radio personality Ed Felbin. The car needed an identity, a prefix before `SS100′ to set it apart and give it an aristocratic sound. Ed was playing golf at a `Squire’s Country Club’, which proved suitable inspiration. He simply removed the `s’ and somewhere before the eighteenth green, the name `Squire SS100′ was born. Felbin thought a new car of classic design with elegant foreign coachwork and modern American power was a good and saleable idea. In this, before the days of `kit cars’, Felbin was ahead of his time.

Finished in Bright Red, this 6-ply hand-laid fiberglass bodied Squire shows extremely well. The black canvass manual convertible top and matching side curtains are in very good condition. Both running boards are equally in great shape. The headlights are protected by stone guards and set in hand-laid metal shells mounted in front of the grill shell that was also hand-made in the old coach-built manner, panels beaten over a wooden buck. The driving lamps are a flat lens H4 and the with dual bracket mounted Fiamm horns go well with the style. The tail lights are well positioned and in excellent condition. All the trim is present and complete and presents a brilliant finish.

Inside, the interior is black leatherette vinyl, the bucket seats have an excellent support and are very comfortable. The black door panels, black vinyl covered dashboard and matching carpet are a continuation of the interior of the car and look fantastic. All the Jaeger gauges are in place and have correct period appearance and function as designed. The heater/defroster with a highly desirable Nardi three spoke wooden steering wheel completes the interior.

This beautiful Squire comes equipped with a Ford 250 cubic inch straight six OHV engine, fed by a Autolie 2-barrel carburetor. Power is transferred to the wheels with a 3-speed C-4 Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear differential. Driver assist features include four-wheel American Bendix hydraulic drum brakes. The roadster’s suspension consists of leaf springs in the rear and a torsion-bar design in front. This Squire SS100 comes with 15-inch 72 spoke wire wheels made by Dunlop with Rudge knock-off hubs.

The Squire SS100s have quietly slipped into collector car status in the past thirty years and have appreciated considerably in value. With this being the first example of only fifty ever produced!, don’t miss this opportunity! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!

Also included is a extensive collection of historical documentation of the Squire SS100.
