THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD NEW BY REDDING'S IMPORTED MOTOR SPORTS LOCATED IN SHIPPENSBURG PENNSYLVANIA ON 8/18/1962. WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS HANDBOOK AND WARRANTY FOLDER SHOWING THESE FACTS AND SOME SERVICES. WE PURCHASED THIS RENAULT FROM AN ESTATE ON 6/19/2009. THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING GREAT, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFT GREAT IN ALL GEARS, THE CLUTCH WAS STRONG, AND THE BRAKES FUNCTION PROPERLY. ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WORKED. WE DISPLAYED THIS VEHICLE IN OUR SHOWROOM AS A CONVERSATION PIECE. THE CAR WAS STARTED ONCE IN A WHILE TO MAKE SURE THE ENGINE DID NOT SEIZE. LAST WEEK, OUR TECHNICIAN ADDED SOME FRESH FUEL, INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY, AND THE CAR STARTED. THE ENGINE RUNS GOOD BUT IT NEEDS A TUNE UP. WE RECOMMEND THAT THE FUTURE OWNER DRAIN THE FUEL TANK AND LINES, PERHAPS REBUILD OR CLEAN THE CARBURETOR, REPLACE ALL FLUIDS, INSTALL NEW SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES BEFORE DRIVING IT ON THE MAIN ROADS. THE BRAKES FUNCTION PROPERLY. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SECOND OWNER HAD THE CAR PAINTED AND REFINISH THE SEAT COVERS, AND DOOR PANELS BACK IN YEAR 2000. THE PAINT IS WELL PRESERVED. IT IS GLOSSY WITH SOME MINIMAL FLAWS THAT ARE HARDLY NOTICEABLE UNLESS YOU GET REAL CLOSE TO THE CAR. WE CALL IT A GOOD DRIVER QUALITY PAINT. WE HAD THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, HUB CAPS AND TRUNK HINGES RE-CHROMED IN THE YEAR 2009. IT IS GLOSSY WITH SOME MINOR FLAWS THAT ARE HARDLY NOTICEABLE UNTIL YOU GET REAL CLOSE TO THE BODY. A FEW VERY SMALL CHIPS AND MINOR SCRATCHES. WE CALL IT A GOOD DRIVER QUALITY PAINT. THE UNDER-CARRIAGE IS COATED WITH A RUST PROHIBITIVE MATERIAL. THE FLOORS AND CROSS SUPPORTS, SILLS, ETC. APPEAR TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE HOOD OPENS FORWARDS. THERE ARE TWO PIVOT POINTS ON THE FRONT. THE PIVOT ROD OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS BROKEN. THEREFORE, AFTER UNLATCHING THE HOOD, YOU HAVE TO LIFT THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE HOOD AND MOVE FORWARD TO AVOID SCRATCHING THE FRONT VALANCE. IT SOUNDS BAD BUT AN EASY FIX. THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, HUBCAPS, AND REAR TRUNK HINGES WERE RE-CHROMED AND IN GREAT CONDITION. THE REAR BUMPER HAS A 1" DIAMETER BAD SPOT (TURNED BROWN) ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE BODY SIDE MOLDINGS AND EMBLEMS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE ORIGINAL DOOR HANDLES HAVE SOME LIGHT PITTING. ALL GLASS, WINDSHIELD, AND LIGHT LENSES ARE IN EXCELLENT VERY CONDITION. INTERIOR: THE SEAT COVERS, DOOR PANELS, HEADLINER, DASH, INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND STEERING WHEEL ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE CAR STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL RUBBER FLOORING. THE WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN WITH EASE. MECHANICAL: THE ENGINE STARTS, RUNS AND DOES NOT SMOKE. THE NEW OWNER NEEDS TO: DRAIN ALL FLUIDS, CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS AND MAYBE THE SPARK PLUG WIRES, DRAIN THE FUEL TANK AND LINES, CLEAN OR REBUILD THE CARBURETOR, AND CHECK THE COOLING SYSTEM BEFORE DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE MAIN ROAD. WHEN YOU OPEN THE OIL CAP, THERE IS A BIT OF BLOW-BY. THIS CAR IS 55 YEARS OLD AND THAT GOES WITH THE TERRITORY. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS, THE CLUTCH IS GOOD, AND THE BRAKES FUNCTION PROPERLY. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS CAR ON THE ROAD IN A LONG TIME. THE TIRES LOOK LIKE SNOW TIRES. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS SOLID. PLEASE DON'T CALL AND ASK IF YOU CAN FLY IN AND DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO CALIFORNIA. ELECTRICAL: THE LIGHTS, GAUGES, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, HORN, AND EVEN THE ORIGINAL MOTOROLA RADIO WORK. THE ORIGINAL IGNITION SWITCH MOUNTED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF STEERING COLUMN WAS ABANDONED SOMETIMES IN THE PAST. IT IS STILL THERE WITH THE ORIGINAL KEY. A NEW IGNITION SWITCH WAS INSTALLED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LOOKS ORIGINAL, CLEAN BUT NOT DETAILED. IT HOUSES THE ENGINE COMPONENTS AND THE ORIGINAL JACK. FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT: THE FRONT COMPARTMENT LOOKS ORIGINAL AND STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL LINER. THE BATTERY BOX IS SOLID. THE ORIGINAL STARTING CRANK IS PROPERLY INSTALLED ON THE FIREWALL. THE 2 ORIGINAL IDENTIFICATION PLATES ARE MOUNTED ON THE FIREWALL. THE TOP OF FENDER CHANNEL (INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT) HAVE A FEW AREAS THAT HAVE SURFACE OXIDATION. THE SAME WITH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WE HAVE TRIED TO DESCRIBE A 55 YEAR OLD CAR TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY AND PROVIDED 90 HIGH QUALITY IMAGES. PLEASE REVIEW THEM BEFORE BIDDING. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE FUNDS IN HAND AND FULL INTENTION TO FINALIZE THE TRANSACTION AFTER YOU WIN THE CAR.
