Description for Other Makes 1800S 1967
Greetings! Here is my 1967 TVR MK4 1800S which I purchased approximately one year ago via a gentleman in Texas. He owned it for three years but did not use it very much and decide to sell it via eBay. He purchased it from a long term owner and vintage racer and TVR-Jomar expert in Colorado. I planned on entering the vintage racing hobby when I retired this year but an unexpected health issue means racing is no longer feasible. I was thinking of setting it up as a road car but decided. with much hesitation. nbsp;to sell it instead. I will reprint the eBay ad the previous owner used and then add a paragraph below to provide additional information. "According to Peter Filby's book: "TVR Success Against the Odds" this is one of 76 MK4" s ever built. and it is equipped with the SE engine. in as far as I know relatively stock configuration. very lively performance. a charming and capable potential racer of road car. As far as the engine build. I don't know exactly what has been done. certainly a high lift cam. a Mallory distributor. some head work and balancing. very nice headers and she is very happy to rev right up to the 6500 rpm. maybe beyond but I have not tried. ""The car is in great overall condition. seats have almost no wear. the dash and door pockets are in good shape. but there is no carpet as the car is in vintage racer form including roll bar and mounted fire extinguisher. The headliner is in place. The previous owner was a skilled engineer with very high standards. he rebuilt the tubular space frame chassis. applying Hammerite enamel as a protective coating. the front shocks are fully adjustable built specifically for this car car by Penske engineering. The paint work has a few minor scratches here and there with gravel chips in all four wheel wells. The passenger side inner wheel well as a crack in the fiberglass as shown one of the pictures. The paint still shines beautifully. Alloy magnesium wheels. including spare. new road tires. and a few other spares. springs. light fittings. the heater and so on. I have a manual for a TVR Grantura and Vixen which is useful. (I never found one for this model. ) 3 racing log books from RMVR. together with articles I have found. some receipts. etc. ""I added a high capacity radiator and a high output fan produced for early E Types to keep it cool in hot weather. In addition. the exhaust system was cutom manufactures to try and prevent the usual TVR trick of ripping the system to shreds when driving over a cigarette. let alone a spped bump. Success on both counts. I have also rebuilt the differential. aside from that she has needed nothing except changing the fuel pump from the old S. U. to a solid state more reliable unit. "Now here is my additional comments having owned the car for about one year: All of the above is accurate. While the car is in great shape. it really needs to be gone through as there are the usual niggly things that need attention including fuel gauge. driver and passenger door mechanisms need tweaking. various minor leaks under the car. carb linkage adjustment. exhaust system adjustment. etc. I am sure milage is not accurate as gauge is not accurate! Over the past year I have been locating NOS parts and ver $800 will go with the car including NOS rear Cortina light assembly( $450). Holden rear plate light. interior dash lights. plastic lenses. etc. No major issues; I have been driving it reguarly on early Sunday mornings at a high rate of speed on the 101; she loves to be wide open! Please take a look at the car on You Tube (youtube. com/watch?v=i7MguMq5Fc) very rare. perfect for vintage racing in North America or Europe. I have never owned a car that gets so much attention. it is insane. cell phones hanging out of passing cars. crowds around it when parked. etc. Jay Leno approached me when I had it displayed at a car show a few months back and went wild over it too! I apologize but could not seem to figure out how to rotate a few of the pictures to normal viewing. My reserve is very realistic. please feel free to ask questions and local inspections are welcome and encouraged but before the auction ends. not afterwards! (She is stored in West Hollywood. ) Payment should be made by wire transfer only. You will not find a better TVR for the money anywhere. but she does need a new home so please don't be shy!I will be happy to assist in shipping. but this remains the buyers responsibility. I will keep the car for up to a month while while shipping arrangements have been made. Good Luck!
