Description for Other Makes 1951
Here is a very solid Henry J Gasser Coupe project. The work done thus far looks well done. This guy could certainly weld better than I can. The body is incredibly straight and I see no evidence of any significant damage inside or out. The car is an original Arizona vehicle so rust is inconsequential. The frame is also as rust and corrosion free as anyone could ask for. As you can see it is a solid front axle on parallel leaf springs with a tilt front end. The fenders and hood are just bolted together at this time. They make a good structural unit. but I always found them kind of clumsy as it takes two people to open the nose without damaging the finished car. These can still be used conventionally if you wish. The driver door was removed just to access the interior and it also is straight as a laser with no damage in or out. I set the door back in place and it is closed with the latch. but it is not bolted on the cowl. The factory latches and handles are there along with the window regulators and all function as they should. but If you do go racing. I think a set of bearclaw latches would only make sense. The windshield trim and rubber are laying inside and the trim is very good. but the rubber and glass will of course need to be replaced. The engine is now out of the car along with the transmission and they are not included in the sale. The mount will stay and the trans crossmember. The rear end I believe is a Ford 9 inch and I am only guessing it is a posi. but truth be told I don't know. As you can see it is mounted firmly in place with adjustable ladder bars and a panhard rod on the top. it has some beefy looking adjustable coil over shocks and again all work looks well done. The rear pan has been fabbed and welded in and the rear wheelwells have been radiused and beaded. There is still some finishing work to do. but I didn't want to hide the fine work with primer or Bondo. This is the lightweight no trunk model and there were few cars that were as easy to launch. My background is not in racing. but in street rods. I could build this as a sweet little hot rod or go full tilt and make it a nostalgia drag car. You can see in the background I have waaay too many cars as it is. so I will offer this up for sale and see if anyone has a desire for a very solid near zero rust Arizona factory lightweight. I have a very modest reserve. Any questions about the reserve will be ignored. I need half of the winning bid in five days and the balance in ten days of the auction end. The funds must clear my bank before the car leaves my possession. I have a new clear Arizona title with no issues. No trades. no Nigerian princes. ask your wife. mother lawyer. banker. priest. Doberman. or significant other before bidding. If your teenage son is bidding. whack him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. I can help with shipping anywhere. Bid high. bid drunk. bid often. and good luck.
