Description for AMC AMX 1969
Up for sale is my 1969 AMX 500 Special. I purchased this car in 1997 from Laguna Niguel. California. It has led a pampered life here in Indiana ever since. The car has the following equipment: 390 V-8. 4-speed transmission. go package. Big Bad Green paint with factory black stripes. tan leather interior. tilt wheel. power steering. front disc brakes. original space-saver spare tire with air canister. dual exhausts. positrac rear end. and the original California personal blue plate "69 AMX". This AMX is also one of the rare 500 Specials. It is my understanding that the 500 Specials were created by the Southern California AMC Dealers to be utilized as courtesy cars throughout the racing season at the old famed Riverside International Raceway. The history of the 500 Specials is somewhat vague and not very well documented. They were 390 V8 AMX's painted Big Bad Green with tan interiors and produced in limited numbers. They each had two 500 Special badges on the hood blisters. This is a true survivor car in that it has never been modified. molested. or altered. It has 29K original miles and still carries its' original paint job from the AMC factory. It's not perfect. being that it is 46 years old. but it is one of the better original paint cars that I have seen. The car runs and drives great with only the gas gauge not working as a fault. In my 18 years of ownership I have done the following to the car: rebuilt the carburetor. new battery (more than one). new exhaust system (front to back). new bias ply red line tires. replaced the front springs. replaced a sagging headliner. replaced the steering wheel with a Nardi wheel ( I have the original that needs restored). That's it. That's all that has been done to this car. it is that original. So if you're desiring a collectible AMX. this is a good one. It's a limited edition 500 Special. It's a 390 with a 4-speed. It's a high quality survivor car. and it's the desirable Big Bad Green of which they only made 284 of that color in 1969. Any questions. feel free to email me at amx3672@gmail. com or call 317-908-1463. This is an investment quality car but it is also a great value for the enthusiast to enjoy for years to come. They don't come along this nice very often. I can make the car available for inspection anytime in Indianapolis. IN.
