Description for Packard Deluxe Eight 1949
Very original 1949 Packard 4 door sedan. I’m selling this car for a friend who just purchased a 1949 Packard convertible and needs the storage space. The car was purchased 3 years ago from California. It is believed to be a California car it’s whole existence. I restore old cars and I feel this Packard is very original and in very good shape for its age, hard to find them like this. It has an older paint job and shows it’s age with normal edge chipping and some areas of paint cracking. There is one area of visible surface rust below the trim that separates the roof from the body on the driver side. Chrome is very nice but shows it age with some pimples on the pot metal pieces and some delaminating on the rear bumper where the bumper guards attach. The car is currently NOT RUNNING because it needs a new fuel pump. I got it running by poring gas in the carburetor but the sediment bowl is not filling up. The fuel pump is a very recent issue. I drove this car many times and it always started right up and ran extremely well with no engine noise or blue exhaust. The odometer shows 106,856. The trunk is totally original with no through rust. I found one rust hole in the floor at the drivers door, probably from a window leak. This interior is totally original and AMAZING for the age and miles of this car. The drivers door does not stay closed, it needs a new internal spring, which is common on old cars with this type of latch. This is also a recent issue.Work done to this Packard in the last three years includes, total front suspension rebuild and wheel bearings,NOS shocks(very hard to find),new brakes all around, gas tank removed and glass lined, carburetor rebuilt, new starter motor, new commercial 6 volt battery. Call Don Herr 252-619-0226 with questions. Mileage on the odometer is 6,856 i.e. 106,856
