1970 Plymouth GTX hard top. A REAL V CODE CAR, nbsp;High Impact Tor Red!! Numbers matching, 40 6 barrel and Automatic Transmission. Original Build sheet and Fender tag. Partial VIN on Engine and Transmission. All casting dates are correct for this early built (9/69) car. I have 1 and 1/2 of another build sheets. The car still retains it's original fender tag. The radiator support and rear trunk lip have partial VIN's on them too. She's real. I believe this to be an original 44,000 mile car. A ton of tell tale signs.There were a total of 678 1970 440 6 barrel GTX's built. 350 were 4 speeds and only 328 Automatics. How many numbers match, barrel examples could possibly be left after 45 years? And.... Yes this car is in the GTX registry.
I bought this car from a guy in TN. He's owned it for about 15 years and drove it very, ery little. An original Kalamazoo Michigan car it was purchased at Kalamazoo Chrysler Plymouth. I have some original owner info that goes with the car. Also have several receipts from past owners too. I've talked to the original owners son and said his Dad adored this car. Well known on the streets of Kalamazoo in the 70's and 80's! His Dad passed about 20 years ago.
All the sheet metal appears to be original with the exception of some metal replacement behind and down low of rear wheels. Metal work was fabricated and he did not use replacement panels. They did a real good job. Floors, runk, runk extensions, rame rails all very solid. Fenders, uarters, oors all look to be original and verified by a reputable body man here in Omaha. This cars body looks to have never been apart or wrecked. The car is a single stage repaint about 15 years old. All side stripes look great. I've polished and buffed on it and she looks real good. They fogged paint under the hood and in the trunk. Not show car quality. A very nice original type driver that you can drive and enjoy.
Interior is original, ront buckets and rear seats, eadliner, oor panels, nd console, ll in original GOOD condition. Not new, RIGINAL. Carpet looks to have been replaced at some point. Dash looks good with a few scratches in the wood grain. Gauges are nice. AM Radio does not work. Rear package tray new, ear view mirror new. All interior lights work. The interior as a whole I would say is above average. No funny smells or odors other than 1970 Ma Mopar. Also in a few pictures you'll see an E Body Tuff Steering Wheel. That was added years ago. I've since removed it and installed a better looking 71 B Body wheel. You'll probably want to get a correct wheel for it.
Bumpers look real good. I think they were re-chromed as some point. Window trim all good. All other exterior trim is fair to good original. Grill very nice. All glass is nice. Vinyl top is very nice. On the drivers side sail panel there looks to be the factory seam weld that gives the vinyl top an uneven surface. I'm confident it's not rust as there is a factory seam there. Past owners say its always been like that. 1970's quality control at its finest!
The engine looks to be stock and never out of the car. See pictures. A past owner did, owever, nstall a Mopar Purple, ild, pack cam. It has 3:55 gears and the transmission has a shift kit. Brakes and all mechanics seem to be all in operable state. I had a buddy go through the carbs. From sitting so long they were leaking etc. They are a MATCHED SET!!I installed a new Engine compartment wiring harness. Also new plugs, ate code wires and coil. An aftermarket performance coil and some sort of performance computer was added at some point. I considered this junk so I removed them and tossed away. The car really runs well!
This is an early car so she has the rare aluminum Edelbrock intake from the 69 1/2 Mopars!
The under body is very solid. It is original and not restored under there. Appears to be all black. Undercoated car is my guess with general rattle can touch ups over the years. See pictures.
The items that are on the car and NOT on the build sheet are as follows: The rear wing (although correct 1970 item), eeds to be re sprayed flat black to look better. 15 inch wheels. (Originally had the 14" road wheels), ires are awesome shape, nd the turn signal in the hood package. Also has electronic ignition. Has dual H pipe with flow masters. Sounds great.
To sum it up this is an original numbers match, uild sheet and fender tag car with paperwork that someone repainted and freshened up over the years. She runs and drives good and gets tons of interest everywhere she goes. If you look at other cars like mine they are either clones or not numbers matching. In my opinion this car is a true investment piece that will only increase in value. I hold a Ne. Dealers license. Superior Auto Sales in Omaha Ne I am a one man operation and these Mopars are my passion. I have owned several nice high quality Mopars in the past and I never buy or sell anything that not's real.
