Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1969

I am selling my 69 383-s fastback that I have had for over 25 years to fund another project. I have not put very many miles on this car. especially the last 15 or so years. It has a clear Texas title. Car is originally from southeast Idaho. never been in a rust prone area of the country. This is 1 of 331 fastback big block four speed barracudas made in 1969. The car is a bench seat. four-speed. fast ratio steering. stripe delete car. Yes. this car has fast ratio steering. After conferring with Galien Govier. fast ratio steering in a big block A-body is very rare. Another interesting thing about this car is that torque boxes were not installed. The car comes with the matching numbers engine block. If the car hits $25. 00. I will throw in the near perfect big block exhaust manifolds and the correct AVS Carter carb to help restore the car to its original condition. For those who want the original 383 in it. the 440+6 would easily pay for a quality rebuild of the original engine. I personally think it is better to risk wearing out/blowing up a different engine than the original. This car has never been cut up. This car is extremely rust free. A quarter size patch in the rear quarter was required when re-painted 15 years ago. There is one spot on the rocker that has two bubble spots. I am confident that is very localized and would only require a very small patch if at all. The only minor modification was to install a drive shaft loop. This only required drilling some holes in the floor. I have the original engine block. but now sports a 69 440 topped of with a 69 six-pack. The six pack was rebuilt this year. The 440 is 30 over with 452 heads built by the legendary Paul Rossi. The heads have oversized SS intake and exhaust valves with a little pocket porting and valve unshrouding. Engine has Mopar electronic ignition. Hemi grind cam. and Schumacher Tri-y headers. I think it runs pretty good and there is not a lot of miles on it. The four-speed has been rebuilt a couple of years ago and shifts real nice. A Centerforce clutch helps it get moving. The original 3. 23 open gear set comes with the car. The barracuda has four wheel drum brakes. You mopar experts might recognize that the doors are not 69 doors but are 67/68 doors. The car was in a minor accident before I bought it. The passenger door and fender were damaged. It was cheaper back then to just replace both doors and get another fender. At the time I didn't think it was a big deal to not have 69 parts. I have a pair of 69 fenders and a pair of 69 doors available for extra if you would like to buy them. The interior is in good condition with one small puncture hole in the driver seat. Caused by me sitting in the car with a pencil in my pocket. There is also a small melted spot in the back seat where I laid a trouble light on it. Both are not extremely visible. but are there. The dash pad has one small x crack on the passenger side. It is about dime sized. Like I said. this is a driver. The headline is near perfect. Dash was rechromed many years ago. It looks decent. but is not perfect. I recently installed the Tri-Y headers and a new exhaust system. It is 2. 5 exhaust tubing with an X-pipe. I welded in flanges before the mufflers and the headers so that the entire exhaust under the car can be unbolted an taken out to remove the transmission. I have the original matching numbers 383 block and the transmission is matching numbers. The radiator is an original big block A-body radiator (try finding one of these today). Front grills are pretty nice. but are not original Formula-s grills. I painted them black years ago. The original black plastic grills were pretty rough and at the time not worth fixing. Bumpers were rechromed about 10 years ago and still look fantastic. There is one dimple in the rear bumper that probably could be worked out without rechroming. Tail panel is a repro. looks pretty good. The body is really straight but does have a door ding or two and has numerous paint chips due to driving it across country while I was in the Navy. It could use them touch ups but otherwise shows well. This is B5 blue car. Front suspension was rebuilt many years ago with poly-graphite bushings. I just replaced the pitman arm as that was the only suspension piece that I did not replace when I did the suspension. The rear leaf spring eyes also have poly-graphite bushings. Wheels are what looks like American Racing Torque thrusts in the 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern. (Try finding those!) Tires are almost brand new BFG TAs. Now for the documentation! I have the fender tag. build sheet. window sticker. owner's manual with the originals owners name in the back. a letter from the original owner. and !!!! a video of the car when it was new. That's right. I have a video of the car when it was new. Besides the bench seat. four speed. fast ratio steering. it also came with a tachometer (don't know if it works) and was ordered as a stripe delete car. The VIN. rear trunk numbers. core support numbers. title. engine. transmission all are numbers matching. Know issues: transmission leaks (I think around the speedo cable). one hood spring popped off. hood still stays open. oil pressure gauge not hooked up. no wire from firewall to sending unit. headlight trim rings not installed because right front fender is originally a 67 fender which does not have the brackets to mount the rings. needs hinge covers for bench seat. I have the original trunk divider panel. hinges. and hardware. but never have installed it. Rear seat folds down. have original hinge covers. but not installed. The ignition key takes a little wiggling to get the key to work. Steering box is a little loose. I tried to adjust the preload and it seemed like it was stuck. Didn't want to force it. so I left it as is. I have tried to be as honest as possible. This is a driver and is not a show car. You are encourage to call me about more specific details about the car. 806 353-7323. This car is really sharp and turns heads wherever it goes. It almost always is the only factory big block A-body at car shows I take it to. I require 500 dollars down within 48 hours after auction closing. I will hold onto any payment until the payment clears prior to releasing the car. Buyer will have to arrange shipping. I will assist in loading the car. if necessary.
