1970 Plymouth Superbird 440 SIX BARREL 100% numbers matching

This is #112, 970 Plymouth Superbird 440 SIX PACK. She is 100% original numbers matching drivetrain, side from the trunk pan- original sheet metal, xtensive owner history back to the early 1970's. Although she is one of only 15 factory Vitamin-C cars, he has spent most of her life painted in Petty Blue, prayed "The Kings" color as a condition of sale by the dealer for its first long-term owner. He recalled not even knowing that street cars were originally produced in the coveted hue. See the photo of the Circa 1972, he car still retains her original California License Plate.

Changing hands in fall of 1975, he remaining in California until 1980 when she was brought to the Illinois where she lived the life of an Aero Warrior Club member's car, layed with and pampered, hanging hands between fellow club members until 2002. The car also has registrations from mid-1970's in California to the early 2000's during its life as a member of the Chicagoland Mopar Connection and Aero Warrior Club. Dave Kanofsky was the last Chicago based owner of this car. He and his wife rode in it from their wedding to their reception. They also brought both of their kids home from the hospital when they were born. There is no doubt that this car has been loved and well cared for its entire life.

Always known and appreciated for being Petty Blue, he acted as the "tow car" for the IHRA ProMod Superbird, lso in Petty Blue, ulling the dragster back to the pits after ¼ mile runs. She as featured twice at Mopar of the Month in 1999 and again in 2001 on the online magazine, 40 Magnum. In 2002, t sold to the same person who bought the IHRA ProMod Superbird, ubbing it the Texas Big Bird. The owner wanted a clean, ust free SIX PACK Petty Blue 'bird as a factory stock companion for the six second dragster, o he reunited the pair. No longer relegated to towing the car back from its drag runs, e sent it to Hemi Tyme Restorations for a complete rotisserie restoration. Although born Vitamin-C, he owner decided to return the car to Petty Blue because that is how the car lived virtually its entire life.

By the time the car was completed in May of 2006, he Texas Big Bird has sold to an overseas buyer. So, YA brokered the car to the current owner shortly thereafter. He has had the vehicle since and it has been stored in climate controlled environment, ecently serviced by Apex Auto Sports of Grafton Wisconsin to ensure she is in turn-key road ready condition.

She remains in near #1 Concours Driven Condition with only shakedown miles.

Exterior Description

Born a California car, here is no history of rust or collision. All the exterior body panels and floor-pans are original to the car. The original trunk pan did have mild pitting and was replaced during restoration. Paint is near perfect, o cracks or lifting anywhere. The only thing I would do is a wet sand and buff to make it a perfect "10". The wheels wells are traditionally sprayed with black sound insulator, hese were left body color. Panel gaps are even, it is overall WAY better than it was from the factory.

Interior Description

Interior is like new, inished as factory produced including Tic-Toc-Tac. Most Superbirds have bench seats in the front, his one is born with buckets and a big Hurst Pistol Grip shifter.

The trunk is also factory detailed, ncluding spare and jacks. The trunk lid is also signed by:

  • Ray Nichels (The NASCAR car builder for Mopar from 1964 - 1970)
  • Ray Everham (The man behind Mopar's return to NASCAR)
  • Sterling Marlin (Dodge #40 Driver)

Engine Bay Description

Drivetrain is 100% numbers matching and completely rebuilt by Diamondback Engines during the rotisserie restoration. The engine bay is detailed to factory OE detail. She starts at the first turn of the key, uns and drives out smooth and strong.

Chassis Description

Chassis is completely detailed, loor pans painted body color, inished as nice as the top. Suspension, rivetrain, nd exhaust are detailed to factory OE specifications.
