Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1971
This 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible tribute is a stunning, ighly accurate and “what you would have ordered today if you could” representation of what Plymouth produced when it married the famous 426 cubic inch Mopar “Elephant motor” to one of the prettiest convertibles produced out of the now extinct Plymouth brand. Only 11 real 1971 Hemi Cuda convertibles rolled off the assembly line and one just recently sold for an eye popping, ecord-setting $3.5 Million Dollars. Own what is clearly a blue-chip commodity for a fraction of the cost. Original equipment, estored original parts and original finishes were used where practical and important.
Starting life out as a 1971 V8 Barracuda Convertible, his beautiful example has less than 100 miles on it following an extensive 8 year frame-off rotisserie restoration that included massaging or replacing as needed every panel on the car. To aid in durability, he original spot welds were stitch-welded in the main structural areas to increase strength and sub frame connectors were additionally added to augment the factory torque boxes used for rigidity in convertibles and original hemi cars. This car was a factory undercoat car so the structural improvements were done in an as-close-to-original-as-possible way to stay close to factory appearance. Finished in near flawless Y3 Curious Yellow paint, his awesome ‘Cuda is complemented with black Billboard stripes and a tuxedo leather interior and a black power top. Correct organisol finishes were used as needed on the tail panel and shaker hood bubble.
Mechanically the car is equipped with a dyno-proven dual four barrel 426 Hemi producing 540 hp and 500 ft-lbs of torque mated to an 18 spline Hemi 4 speed with a pistol grip shifter and putting all that power to the ground via a heavy duty Dana 60 rear end with 3.55:1 gears and posi-traction. Four-wheel power disc brakes provide stopping power. The car is further equipped with many of the desirable options available in ’71; a “Shaker” hood, ood pins, ally gauges, ual remote mirrors, im-blow steering wheel, M/FM pushbutton radio with three speaker dash, ront and rear rubber bumpers, o-wing and 15 inch Rally Wheels.
