Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1971
Up for your consideration is this survivor all original 49,000 mile 1971 Plymouth 340 'Cuda. I purchased this car from the original owner 2 years ago. It was purchased in California and spent most of its life and its 49,000 miles out there. Since new it spent timein California at the Los Angeles Air Force Base, New Mexico, Georgia, and finally New York where it sat 20 years. The car is very well preserved, retaining its original interior from the carpet up to the headliner. Nothing has been replaced. It retains its born with numbers matching engine and transmission. The engine compartment is untouched other than basic tune up components such as plugs, wires, belts, hoses. Born with belts are still in trunk. Engine appears untouched and never apart. Have all receipts of oil changes, services, and repairs dated back to 70s. The chassis is original minus normal tune up wear and tear. Receipts show brake work, shocks, and tires. The trunk has original spare, jack, and mat all in great shape. In the trunk the original owner mounted one of the first cell phones to the floor, a Motorola Dynatac 4000. Not cheap at nearly $4000 in 1983.Several sheet metal screws were used and itis allstill in place. The car retains 75-80% of its original paint. The entire rear valence was re-painted as well as the drivers side above the body side molding 3/4 length from the back of the gills to tail. That's it. Everywhere else is original. Only a couple spots are thin when checked with paint gauge. I purchased a set of 70's dated polyglas tires that would have been on when new. They are on the car now, even though some pics will show the old whitewall tires. I also added air shocks in the rearto assist with sagging rear springs. The car runs and drives very nice. If the car sits for a while it will have a small amount of oilsmoke on start up that completely cleans out. Does not smoke when driving. Original Thermoquad works good. Choke works as well as fast idle and when warm smooth idle. Upon purchase I removed the tank, had it cleaned, flushed fuel lines and cleaned carb. All original lines and clamps were used and retained in there original locations, so it does not look like this procedure took place. The transmission and gear box do drip, nothing major. The glass is clear and nice, windows all go up and down nicely. Gauges all work, speedometer is smooth, interior and exterior lights all work. Dash pad is in near perfect shape. The engine doesnot overheat. Transmission shifts smoothly and there is no abnormal noise while driving. The interior was carefully takenapart to clean, find build sheets, and document with pictures. That's why it has pics shown with seatsand carpetout. I personally pulled the sheet out of the back seat and one still taped to the heater box. The tape was still sticky. The pictures should speak for themselves as to how nicely preserved this 1971 Cuda is. Not many opportunities come up to purchase a car like this. Please only bid if you intend to purchase this car. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Good Luck!Build sheet options:
