Description for Plymouth Fury 1956
The Fury was the first of the Plymouth muscle cars. introduced in 1956 it set the speed record. previously held by Cadillac. at Daytona for American production cars. It was basically a Plymouth 2 dr. hardtop with a modified Canadian Dodge truck engine. big Dodge brakes. lowered heavy duty suspension. tachometer. custom interior. gold anodized side trim and Fury emblems. This is an original car that came from California ten years ago. The mileage is original. engine and drive train are original. It has had routine repair work done over the years including some body work. The engine runs well and is the standard Fury 303 c. i. with single four barrel. hot cam and solid lifters. The trans works well as do the rest of the mechanical components. The interior. which is very presentable. was replaced some time ago with not quite original fabric inserts which were not available at the time. The fabric has silver threads instead of gold ones. The vinyl is original style. It needs better carpet. Original fabric is now available but probably not worth doing for a driver. Only a Fury expert would know the difference. All interior components are now available from suppliers for a complete restoration. This car will require complete paint and some body and chrome work to be presentable. there is some bubbling above the right rear wheel well and it needs new rocker panels and may need other body work. the trunk floor has been replaced. The paint is about 50% original lacquer which has cracked severely and has been over sprayed to protect it. The gold side trim is complete and not dented and is in good condition. all emblems are good. The proper turbine wheel covers are included and are damage free but will need re-anodizing. To bring this car to driver condition should cost about $7. 00. to get to show condition it will depend on what you want to spend. I have a number of optional items for this car available separately including power seat mechanism including buttons. power steering components. some power window components. nos dash clock. two 4bbl. manifold. proper carburetors and air cleaners. I also have some nos maintenance/restoration items including engine parts . oil filter cartridges. gauges. trunk and door weatherstripping. windshield wiper motor. water pump. gasket sets. headlight switch. radiator hoses etc. All these were bought to restore this car.
