Description for Plymouth Plaza 1954
Here I have a 1954 Plymouth Plaza Club Sedan which is a survivor car! This belonged to the best friend of my late father and I purchased it from him about six years ago. I believe he was the original owner and had kept it garaged for most of it's life. Bob was really into the Plymouth line and he kept the original owner's manual, the 1954 Plymouth sales brochure, warranty card and the original service manual. These are also included as well as approximately 80 bi-monthly copies of the "Plymouth Bulletin" which are neatly boxed in upright file boxes. ( These will be boxed and included with the car when delivered). He had the original 217 cid 6 cylinder flathead engine professionally rebuilt about 7 years ago and a split exhaust manifold installed so that he could have dual exhaust. He was a young man in the 50's and he had glass packs on it but I replaced them with turbo mufflers for a nice mellow toned exhaust. It runs fantastic and is very dependable. It has an electric fuel pump added in addition to the original mechanical pump for dependability. All I did was add a new 6 volt Interstate battery and installed heavy duty starting cables when I put in a battery disconnect so that I could safely park it at the car shows without anyone trying to drive it off! It has the "Three on the tree" manual 3 speed column shift transmission with the Borg-Warner overdrive which is probably the main reason I bought it, as it is the neatest feature of this classic besides the engine. Bob had also had the interior redone years ago with nice velour seats and headliner (one small hole) which makes the interior awesome but with still has that cool smell of the 50's cars that my parents had when I was growing up. Mechanically runs perfect, starts every time, shifts perfectly, clutch is great and overdrive works as it should. Brakes are excellent. Tires are about 3 years old all weather radials. Spare was replaced as well. Original rubber floor mats over the carpet and the trunk rubber space liner is in good condition for it's age. This survivor is still 6 volt with servicable generator and starter. All lights, wipers, gauges and heater blower works fine. The original tube radio is still installed but unfortunately is INOPERATIVE. Bob had also found an original NOS Chrysler fog lamp kit which he installed and works well. Suspension is good and there is absolutely no undercarriage rust. The vehicle has been well cared for. I have Amsoil synthetic oil installed in the engine, transmission and rear end, as I have been using it religiously for 40 years. It is NOT a show car, but I would call it a very nice survivor/driver car that is in very good shape for 63 years old! I would feel perfectly comfortable to drive the car from here to New York as It is in great mechanical condition. I am forced to sell the vehicle due to a financial issue and I have priced it to sell well below the Haggerty book value. I will be glad to help facilitate shipment and or if you would like to pick it up that could be worked out as well. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: Due to the societal atmosphere of people wanting to get "something for nothing" I am unfortunately forced to state the following: TERMS OF SALE:Please note that all sales are binding and FINAL.
