Description for Plymouth Horizon 1987
Here is a true survivor. 1987 Plymouth Horizon with only 37,000 original miles. I am the 3rd owner, purchased from a young couple who didn't appreciate what they had. They bought it from the original owner, yes, a little old lady. Lifelong Idaho car was used by the original owner to go to church and run errands and lived in a small town, parked inside a garage, hence the low miles and condition. When the 2nd owners bought it, it needed some work and they were reluctant to put anything into it so it sat, and sat... When I bought it it wouldn't idle or run properly so I had it tuned up and spent $350.00 on a carb rebuild. Has the TPI system so this falls between carb and fuel injection era and has a few quirks. The mechanic who rebuilt the carb says these right from the factory were good cars but the automatic transmission ones ran a bit rough when the A/C is kicked on, and this one does that. A/C off and it runs great. Needs to be pumped once to start and allowed to warm up and you are good to go. I have driven it many times to Boise and back, 35 miles round trip with no problems. It will need new tires though as these have some age wear and track on the highway. Condition of the car is excellent. It has a few bumps and bruises from grandma going in and out of the garage, the biggest one by the right rear tail light. It has been touched up in a few places, buy hey, it's an 87. ZERO rust. If you were going to redo this one it would be the easiest car to repaint in history. Honest though, this finish is still in awesome shape. The interior has a few tears on the top of the back seat and a few on the passenger front seat. Carpet is slightly worn in one spot in drivers area where your left foot would rest, otherwise it looks new. Headliner, door panels and dashboard look new. Rear cargo area complete with removable shelf and fold down rear seat. Spare looks like it never has been out, some underlayment under carpet stuck to body. Under the hood is clean as the rest of the car. Like I stated, I just had a tune up and carb rebuild done to the tune of $600.00 so it runs great once warmed up. Has an exhaust leak, but no engine leaks. Who knows if and when these will ever be deemed collectible, but with the rise in popularity of cars from the 80's and 90's, I would assume this would be, as these early commuter cars have a place in automotive history. Great gas mileage and a ton of thumbs up whenever I take it out. Sold as is, please feel free to call me or text me with any questions. 507-430-2744. Car is located near Boise Idaho.
