Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1968
**** One of only 963 produced (approximately 550 of them 4-speeds). this is an extremely nice Plymouth Barracuda fastback Formula “S” 383 4-speed. If you appreciate factory originality and have a passion for the Mopar A body. you’ll love this incredibly well maintained sample with less than 94. 00 original miles on the original number matching 383 engine and 4-speed transmission. The engine appears to have never been out of the car. The only non-original/non-factory component under the hood is the Chrysler electronic ignition conversion package. All of the fuel system is original and/or factory correct. The automatic choke and cold startup features work perfectly. fast idle. etc. The clutch is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly without any drive noise in any gear. The only part of the drive train that has been out of the car is the rear axle. Originally equipped with a peg-leg third member. I replaced it with the correct ratio 3:23 sure grip. This car has all of the Formula “S” options including front disc brakes. sport wheel covers. five new red line tires (Coker radials). bucket seat deluxe interior. factory tachometer (works perfectly). dual exhaust and body side stripes. The 14 x 5. 5 factory steel wheels are new as are the correct 2 inch tall lug nuts on the original 4-inch bolt circle. LH studs on the driver’s side. Some recent interior work includes new carpet. front bucket seat covers. chrome arm rest bases. console tops. shifter boots (upper & lower). dash bezel. heater core and glove box. The rest of the interior is original including the arm rests. door panels. dash pads. headliner and back seat covers. The AM radio looks perfect but does not work. Recent exterior work includes new trunk weather stripping. trunk lid trim panels. tail light bezels. tail light lenses and wheel opening moldings. The paint is excellent at 10 feet as the pictures indicate. but is not the original color. The original Light Green Metallic (FF1) was changed before I owned the car to Racing Green Metallic (GG1). A close inspection will show what an incredible effort was taken to make the color change. A repaint is completely out of the question unless you plan to pursue OEM competition. Be prepared for this auction to end early in the event of receiving an acceptable offer. If the auction runs its course. a $500 payment must be made within 24 hours after the auction ends.
