Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1969
Eye-catching 1969 Barracuda Convertible. Nearly $60,000 invested. Extensively upgraded with modern suspension, brakes, differential, and drive shaft. Perfect candidate for a Mopar crate motor and transmission upgrade to be a complete bad-ass show car.I originally wanted to graft a Viper motor and transmission, but the length was too difficult to accommodate. I then purchase a crate 402 c.i.d. crate motor that produces 425 hp, but wanted more power, so I sold it instead. Mopar now offers four crate motors from fast to insane (Helliphant).
Unfortunately, I had downsized my house and no longer have room to garage a third car, so I'm selling my prized possession.
Installed upgrades:
$32,000 of bodywork, quarter panel replacements and super smooth two stage paint in Tangerine Pearl (Mopar color)Tubular K MemberAluminum mid engine plateTubular Adjustable A armsCoil-over front shocksRack and pinion steeringWelded support for the front frameWilwood brakes (6 piston front, 4 piston rear)Aluminum rear suspension with KYB'sFab 9 9" Ford differential with 4:11 gear and Posi (no locker here, this car can handle)Mark Williams drive shaftElectric fuel pump
New convertible top with hard plastic window (frame and motor is original)New reproduction dash and glove box door (gauges are original)New carpeting, front and rear door panels, seat covers and headrestsNew reproduction center console and shifter (not installed yet)
Disclosure stuff:
No car is perfect, especially one that is 50 years old.Over sized front wheels and tires. I used the car for show mostly, and the larger wheels and tires complete the look. But they rub when the wheels are turned all the way. To make this into a racer or daily driver, I would go with less width for both wheel and tire.Engine will need tuneup and fluids changed. The car has been sitting around for ten years, driven only to and from shops for the upgrades listed above. I never planned to keep the 318 engine and 904 transmission, so they may run a bit rough.Gas tank has been modified to fit the suspension. I was going to upgrade with a fuel cell, so the modifications were done for practicality and not cosmetics.Wiring should be upgraded. All the wires that run interior lights, controls, gauges etc are original, some of the bulbs are dim or not working. Driver side headers are dented. The suspension is set real low, so a driveway got in the way, again, I didn't plan to keep it anyways.
