Description for Plymouth Barracuda 1972
- This is an extremely rare race car built by Sox and Martin racing in early 1973 for a racer in Charleston WV. It was raced throughout the '70's and into the '80's with a 340 automatic and then stored in a garage until 2006 when a friend of mine found it for sale and bought it. He shipped it here to WA State and updated it with all new front end parts, a new Strange Dana 60 456 rear end, Strange disc brakes all the way around, a Passon performance aluminum race 4 speed, and a new all aluminum Keith Black Hemi with ported Stage IV heads. There's tons of other parts he bought new for it; radiator, headers, etc. etc.I have a folder with all the receipts of all the parts that were bought for the car when my friend bought it. I added up about 45K worth of parts he put into it.
- I bought the car in 2010 and raced it a few times at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.The quickest time I was able to get was a 9.99 at 136 mph. Later I put Caltracks on it trying to get it to hook up better but only raced it a couple more times and never really got them dialed in. The car has acid dipped front fenders but not sure if the whole body was acid dipped or not. It's never been a street car, has been a drag car it's whole life. I cant find any stamped production numbers on the car anywhere, not on the radiator support or around the trunk lip like every other production car has. I believe this was one of the body in white cars given to Sox and Martin by the factory because of the lack of numbers anywhere on the car. Sox and Martin quit racing this body style in early 1972 so it was probably one they had left over and they built it for the guy from Charleston to race. In the last 2 pictures, you can see one of the last Sox and Martin 'Cuda race cars with a '72 grill and a '71 lower valancebefore they switched to the Duster bodies. I pretty much got out of drag racing when my racing buddy passed away about 5 years ago. I love the car but it just sits now and I could use the space. There is no title for the car, there never was one as it's always been a race car and never registered to anyone but I do have the original bill of sale from Sox and Martin from 1973. I'd be happy to answer any questions about it or send you any pictures you want. My name is Todd and my number is 253-228-4770. Please leave a message as I don't usually answer out of state calls do to too many robocalls anymore.
Thanks!
