Description for Plymouth Business Coupe 1938
This 1938 Plymouth Business Coupe is a steel-bodied street machine with enhanced V8 power, an overdrive transmission, and plenty of the right modern upgrades. The result is a head-turning custom that's easy to show off everywhere. The business coupe is the best place to start when you want a custom street machine. They already have a performance/outlaw history because moonshines loved the extra-large trunks. And not only was this body style great for extra cargo, it also happened to have one of the best profiles around as the long rear end has plenty of space to develop the smooth curve. Plymouth used less chrome than some of their competitors, which gives the green paint on this one an uncluttered and more modern appearance. Plus, upgrades like the clear headlights (with built-in turn signals) and frenched license plate really add to an extra smooth look. With chrome being used sparingly, it really helps it stand out on places like the bumpers, dual waterfall grille, and hallmark hood ornament. And those racing-style solid alloys with larger and wide rear ones adds to both the standout shine and performance stance of this Plymouth
The moment you open the door, you can see that the old 1930s-style interior has been replaced with a full custom and comfy setup. That means two late-model bucket seats that have proper seat belts built right in. And the leather on the seats matches the wrapping around the sports steering wheel. There are ton of terrific details, like the custom tweed door panels, and a custom center console that shows off what those old Plymouth heaters looked like. The dash is dominated by a full AutoMeter gauge package with large speedo and tach. But you'll also notice they cleanly installed a modern AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input and Bluetooth. That way you can hook up the best in modern music players to this custom vintage ride.
While this is a Plymouth on the outside, it runs the best of the other Detroit companies underneath its skin. It starts with GM's 350 cubic-inch small block in the engine bay. This one looks terrific with plenty of polished components, and a cool matching ribbed texture on the air topper, valve covers, and master cylinder (you'll see in the undercarriage photos that even the pans are ribbed, too.) More than just look good, it's a strong small block with an Edelbrock 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock air gap intake, and shorty headers feeding the dual exhaust. You'll even spot the right supporting components in this tidy engine bay, like an MSD coil, steel braided lines, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. It's a strong motor, and so you have a stout Ford 9-inch rear end with traction bars and helper springs. This one was built to be enjoyed at all times, and that's why you have nice features like power steering and power brakes. Plus, the 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission has highway-friendly overdrive for you to drive this coupe near or far with ease.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and restoration photos. This is a distinct Plymouth with power and poise. So don't miss this deal. Call now!
