Description for Plymouth Road Runner 1969

This car is a runner and a driver. Mechanical work done in 1994 and very few miles on the car since that time. I've owned this car since 1992. All body parts are original on this car EXCEPT the right front fender. It hasn't spent one night outside since 1994 and was in the rain one time since then. When I bought it. it was a former Palm Springs car. brought up to Portland by it's owner along with his many other cars. It was originally bronze. with a bronze vinyl top. The interior was torn up from the sun. ot much left. I decided to change colors. I have an original two-tone green interior in decent shape ( all needs a good cleaning as it's been sitting around over 20 years) except some torn seams in the drivers seating area. all else is pretty nice. The parts missing on the inside. I HAVE. they were removed for restoration that I have not finished. I have the original back seat for the car too. it's included as well. I will put it in the car for shipping purposes. I have some extra parts that will come with if the buyer wishes. All body parts were original to this car except the right front fender ( which was hit again. and I replaced with a Road Runner fender) and the paint was original on the entire car except that fender. Car had minimal rust. but plenty of dents. I replaced the ugly bronze vinyl top with a black vinyl top of the proper type for these cars. The engine was not numbers matching and had domed pistons. so high you couldn't run it on pump gas. I bought a numbers matching very rusty 1969 Road Runner for a parts car in about 1993 . nd used that engine for my rebuild. It was the correct factory high performance 383 from a numbers matching Road Runner. I put new purple cam in it. the proper one for that engine. also did a lot of work on the heads. all new guides. most valves were new also. It was bored . 030 over and had 8. 5:1 pistons all in real good shape. So. it's all factory inside with the exception of the compression. It runs on 87 octane. I have the build sheet from that car as well. showing this engine number. Engine was rebuilt in 1994. car has a few thousand miles on it in all that time. I painted the car in 1998 because I didn't want to see it in bare metal and body filler without some protection. This was just to be protection and I would go and do the final paint job later. with a few details taken care of that I hadn't done. like seam sealer. it has the old still in the seams. not too bad. but I would have done it with fresh for the final paint. and also on the right door an extra hole by the mirror where sport mirrors were on the car when I got it. I think the left door does as well. I still have those sport mirrors and they are included. Turned out good enough for a driver quality car that I decided to leave it alone. Paint is 1970 AMC Big Bad Green ( it's not Limelight) and it is Acme acrylic enamel. Fitting for a Road Runner. right? I have the entire interior. used. but in decent shape. including a new headliner for it. still in the box. a black. uncracked dash pad . nbsp;and also a new trunk mat. It will need a trunk seal as I used it for seating tires at some point and tore it up. The hood insulation pad was new. ice have since ruined it. it needs replacing. It was inexpensive. The trunk floor had some rust. I removed ALL of it with a product called NP7. now called "The must for rust". It took days. but it was clean before I laid some Duraglass in there. I have never painted the inside of the trunk and this Duraglass has been in there since 1994. There were two tiny spots at the base of the rear window and I sand blasted the channel and glassed those two tiny spots. The floorboards were solid with some surface rust. I have sanded and painted those too. The 727 transmission I had rebuilt at the same time as I rebuilt the engine. It shifts very hard. will bark the tires shifting into second at 50 MPH. Also. I had my long time radiator man re-core the radiator with his super heavy duty excellent quality cores. He has done all my classic car radiators which have never had any problems after. I replaced the worn out Carter AVS with a new Edelbrock. looks the same. was perfect until the gas dried up in it. I cleaned it. but feel it needs further cleaning. The gas has never gone bad in the gas tank. no issue there. Comes with all the stuff I bought for it. ncluding a new heater switch. which it needs. unless you want to hook two wires together to turn the heater on like I have done when needed. This was an A/C car with no compressor etc. when I bought it so I went without it. Power steering. ower brakes makes it pretty nice to drive. I put some new parts in the front end ( steering parts) but did not rebuild it as it was pretty tight. Rear end has some play in the gears. ( not what I'd consider real bad) was this way when I got the car. Gears are 3:23. sure grip. of course. I will be here to help load the car onto or into a truck as needed when the buyers payment has cleared. Buyer responsible for all shipping charges after the sale. Any questions I can answer feel free to ask. BTW. left muffler blew a hole in the bottom of it last time I started the car a week or so ago. will need one. They are just turbo mufflers. I have a new one and will throw it in. Tailpipes are crappy in that they are just flex pipe. Pipes from the manifolds are still OK. Left side has an exhaust leak at the flange gasket. Needs two gaskets. I tried it with one when I had the engine out for repainting. I filed the pipe flange flat. looked good. still leaks a little with one gasket. Manifolds are factory high flows in good shape. Car is pretty much all stock. except wheels and color change. I have no more paint for the car. Only reason I'm selling this car is because the Wife and I are building our next home. the money will help and I simply cannot get the time play with all of my toys any more. Please don't buy if you can't complete the deal. As for questions. I'll answer them with as much detail as I know. Not interested in talking on the phone with multiple people on it to be honest. BUT I will talk to the serious buyers who really think they want the car and can pay for it. I just can't spend all day talking about it and showing it. I have too much going on at this point. I'm getting lots of phone numbers and offers if it doesn't sell. This starting price is firm. I'm a no-nonsense kind of person and if it doesn't work for anyone. then they simply should not bid. I want the buyer to be very happy with this car when it's all said and done. and I know my price is fair on this car. This car has generated crazy interest and numbers. so I think that speaks for itself to some point. It's worth the price. and anyone looking for the deal of a lifetime. this isn't the car. If you're looking for a reasonable price on a Road Runner. this might be it. I think it's priced well. but I won't give it away. Again. it's no show car. Yeah. it looks nice. I'm not a professional anything. I'm a car guy who does all my own work. and have for 35 years. My bodywork is good. most people tell me it's fantastic. I'm my biggest critic when it comes to that. It isn't perfect straight. it's real straight. Yes. the car has filler in it. nbsp; ( how many don't?) it had dents. lots of dents. Nothing was smashed or crinkled. but it had a lot of dents and creases. I stripped it to bare steel . his includes everything that is green. then did the bodywork . Some parts were near perfect like the left front fender. the trunk lid and the top. others were not like the doors. quarter panels. Doors were the worst . they had about a bajillion door dings in each one. I've included a picture of what the car looked like when I bought it. Not very easy to see clearly I suspect. as I took a picture of the picture so I could post it. I'm not taking parts with me when I move again. so whatever the buyer wants. comes with. I remember rear springs. torsion bars. window regulators. tail lights. a door. a rusty trunk lid. p/s box. brake drums and a lot of other stuff. I will need to dig it all out. and I will when the car is sold and paid for. I'm surprised this car is still here at this price. when I see bidding at $8500. 00 for a rusty '68 that needs full restoration. but hey. I lowered my price a bit anyway. I see a number 3 car valued at around $21. 00. 00 . this one needs a bit of money and your time to get it there. so. My reserve on this isn't right up there at the buy it now price. On Mar-09-15 at 08:54:17 PDT. seller added the following information:Both engine and transmission have about 7000 miles on them since the rebuilding took place in 1994. That's all I have driven the car in that time. I have all receipts still as well. On Mar-10-15 at 19:08:37 PDT. seller added the following information:I decided to lower the reserve a little bit on it. It's very close. On Mar-14-15 at 10:28:44 PDT. seller added the following information:At this point. ebay will not let me delete any pictures so I can add a few more. I will attempt to make another listing on here JUST for the pictures. So check for it if you're interested. On Mar-14-15 at 10:50:47 PDT. seller added the following information:I have added a listing for extra pictures. On Mar-14-15 at 14:13:53 PDT. seller added the following information:Any questions. please feel to ask. If you're serious about this car. call me this weekend. I'm available to chat. at 360-903-6406 and I'll answer anything I can about it. I tried to cover what I can think of in the auction. but I know I didn't cover it all. I want the buyer to be very happy with this car.
