Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1978
1978 Trans Am with Can Am / GTO ground effects. This car was built as a show car in 1980. It won 3 ISCA national events. Built by the best paint and body man on the east coast, cott Winfield and crewof "The Paint Shop". That was then, nd this is now. I bought this car 3 years ago from a tow yard where it had sat for 2 years. The owner was arrested for DUI and the Highway Patrol had it towed. This car with the front spoiler on sits about 2 inches off the ground in the front. The tow driver advised the HP that it was to low to go on roll back. HP said he didn't care to get it off highway. Front spoiler broke off during loading. When the owner came to pick up his car he was furious. To make a long story short he wouldn't pay for the tow and the storage feesandpassed away before the issue could be resolved. The pieces to repair are in the trunk of the car and can be fixed with minimal effort. I recently got it out ofmy barn to start to rebuild as a retro nostalgiaroad race car. It was filthy to say the least. I fine cut the paint to see what was there and behold it was invery goodcondition with all things considered. A show car by no means but a nicefixer upperfor someone. I drained fuel tank and lines, ut in new battery and fuel, henshot it with either and it fired right up and ran nice. It was leaking fuel at carburetor but that was to be expected (I think float is stuck). Looks to be a Holley 750 with vacuum secondary's. I also fixed leak at rear fuel line. I just wanted to see if it would run so that is where I left it. When it was built it was a Pontiac400 CI, ut it could be Pontiac455 or larger now. It has 12' widerear and 10" wide front Boyd Coddington wheels and 12 bolt posi rearend. Tires are dry rotted but hold air and have good tread. It has what looks to be a mid 70's corvette tail on it. The underside is custom painted. The interior is full custom. (needs headliner replaced). The hood is from a 1980 Turbo Trans Am and opens opposite from a normal trans am.(from windshield side). There are numerous details I want you to know before you purchase so if your interested call me at 336-596-1467. Also note:This car was bought and soldunder NC law concerning mechanic's liens and abandoned vehicles. I have not applied for a new title and if you want to put it back on the road you will need to get a salvage title from your state. In NC that fee is $100.00. I have receipt from the tow yard which is all that is required to get a title and I will provide new owner a bill of sale.My reason for selling it isvery simple.I would not make a race car out of what could be a nicecruiser or show car for someone. I have 3 show carsthat I've built already and have notime to take care of another.I have the paint codes and can take pictures of the trophies it won if someone interested in seeing them. This car is for sale locally. DO NOT bid if you don't intend to buy and have funds readily available. I'm in Lexington NC if you would like to see the car in person. The Camaro shown in background is NOT for sale so do not ask about it. No trades considered. Certified check or cashwill be required within 7 days of auction end. I will store the car for up to 7 additional days if needed by you to set up transport. I will assist new owner in loading on trailer with winch, r help in any reasonable waywith transport. I can deliver if in close proximity of Lexington and prior arrangements with me have been made. If you decide you want to butcher it for nostalgia race car I would be willing tosell you a big or small block Chevrolet. I have a 350/325 hpSB and a 468/800 hpBB that I would part with. Also several transmission options available.

Due to circumstances concerning this vehicle as described above, nbsp;this process could take several weeks. The high bidder or winner of this auction will still have the opportunity to purchase the carbut must be willing to wait for title work to be completed before car leaves my possession. I will require a $500.00 deposit to hold the car. If for some reason title work can't be completed the $500.00deposit will be refunded and the car sold as scrap and crushed. I have spoken with NC DMV and they see no problems with issuing a title but must go through the entire process of researching car. I have submitted the required paperwork to DMV
