Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1979
1979 400 4 speed,Special Edition, S6 that is loaded with options that was found sitting in a back yard under two tarps for 16 years. Texas car it's whole life so it doesn't have any rust on the body.Mileage is believed to be original but mileage is exempt on title. Pictures of floor are pretty amazing considering this is a T Top car. All numbers match(engine, ransmission, ear end) and everything is present that this car was built with except the cb radio option. I will describe the car as good as I can to give you a picture of what your buying. 79 was the largest production year for the Trans Am but only 1100+ were built with the 400 4speed, actor in the Special Edition, S6 package and all the other options on this car and you would be hard pressed to find another one like it.
Drivetrain: As stated, umbers matching all around. Engine has had some work in the past and has a healthy rumble to it. Has heads from a 68 GTO and Comp Cams rocker arms(original 6x heads are included with the sale). Engine currently has Edelbrock E street EFI with sump kit installed. I will leave it in but the winning bidder will have to pay an additional 2500.00 on top of the winning bid to keep it and just figure installation and debugging are free. If you don't want the EFI system an edelbrock carburetor will go back on the car. Original intake manifold and carburetor are included with the sale. Transmission shifts great and has a good clutch, ave had no problem with it at all.
Body: Car has most of it's original paint and has no rust. Look at the pictures of the floor when the carpet was removed and trunk picture. Someone tried to rattle can the trunk lid and half of the rear quarters. Why, have no idea but thank God they stopped. Left front fender was replaced with another Trans Am fender and has no rust. No damage to the inner fender or frame rail so I'm not sure why they did it. All other metal is original to this car from when it rolled out of the factory. Car has no rust but has dents and dings on just about every panel. Roof and sides of quarters are the worst, it with hail storm we had last year. Luckily, runk and hood had shingles on them to keep the tarp on so they didn't get any damage. Roof is 80% T Top so popping hail dings won't be to bad. Only significant dent is drivers rear lower quarter panel. A good body man will have no trouble pulling it out and getting it straight. Again, ents are a lot easier to fix than rust.
Interior: Pretty much original, arpet and door panels were replaced and old school looking radio that has ipod connection are only changes made. All gauges and lights work. Dash is perfect with no cracks.
Suspension: All the WS6 suspension is still on the car and hasn't been changed. 4 wheel disc brakes, 5x8 wheels with new tires, way bars and everything else. Car still handles great.
Overall this is a great car that is highly desired by collectors. All the car really needs is paint and you have a car worth way more than what you have into it. Please ask all questions, take pride in my feedback and want everybody happy with their purchase.
Thanks for looking,

Yes, have a 79 hood scoop that goes with the car(one that is closed and shorter than the one on there).
Yes, do have a build sheet that was found under the driver seat.
Yes, ll lights, urn signals and horn all work.
Yes, nterior dash lights are red, guess in 79 all Special Editions got this option.
Yes, ash is the original special edition dash, f you pop the black bezels it is as gold as can be under them, guess it just got faded from the sun.
Thanks for all the questions

According to build sheet, ear end is a posi unit with 3:23 gears, etal tag is still on rear end.
Camera can't seem to take an in focus picture of the vin on the block but it reads PHW Z9L131321 on front pass side. Tranny has the same thing on it.
I've driven the car around town and in our neighborhood but not on any long distance trips(just discovered the car last month). I would go through everything first, have replaced battery, tarter, lternator, nd plug wires.
