Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1976
This car was auctioned a couple of weeks ago on ebay and I never heard from the buyer. I opened a case on ebay - and am not sure what that means. Nice car needs a new home - for sale again. Please come look at car. Glad to entertain offers. Thanks for looking!1976 Pontiac Trans Am. Very good condition. Numbers matching motor. Original 455-4speed car. As most buyers know, ontiac made over 30,000 400 Auto Trans Am's in 1976. They are VERY common. A little over 7000 455 cars were made. They are way more fun and way more collectible than the 400/auto cars. This is a true muscle car. No Air, o power windows. Just a very nice driver. I bought this a few years ago with plan of making it a common driver - the paint (I don't really like orange) is just too nice to paint over. I own a couple of other 76 455 cars and this has the nicest paint of my cars. The body is very solid - I just had some repairs done (professionally) to the front floor as it had some rust. Very nice job. No other rust anywhere - my body/paint guy checked it out. It has a couple of other minor issues that I have listed below. The guy I bought it from said the motor had a rebuild in the past - with an aftermarket cam - but I have no record of this. It runs fine and does not leak oil. The rebuild hx sounds legit to me.
PRO's:- Numbers matching 455 4-speed car- Very nice color combo with Carousel red/black. Last year for that color and the paint is very nice.- Body is very solid. No rust and recent floor board repair in front. No where near bad enough for new pans. It looks great.- WS6 gold wheels and nice BFG's on car. I bought these for 800+ off ebay a few years ago.- Subframe connectors. All of these cars need these.- Headers and Flowmaster - sounds great.- Lakewood bellhousing/scatter shield. If I was going to keep this I'd put a factory bellhousing on car and sell this for $$- Torker I intake and holley carburetor. Runs and starts very well.- Has all the high $$ bling done (front header and sail panel emblems are new and headlight bezels are new).- No oil leaks to my knowledge.
CON's- Wiper motor does not work. Never drive in the rain - have not addressed it.- Tiny, iny crack in front windshield (a rock chip - not a line) - probably a good candidate for the repair company that fixes these.- carpet is very presentable - but has some wear.- Vinyl seat/drivers has a tear. (Picture).- The passenger door only opens from inside - think it is just the hanger for door handle.- The passenger door seal is in the trunk - prolly needs replacing.- The guy who sold it to me had cheap chinese hood hinges (I put rebuilt ones in) and the old hinges dinged up the paint there/hood - I added touch up there (I am nit picking here).
All in all a very nice driving car. Not a show car - but with work could be that. Car could be driven on highway, ut I am pretty sure it has 3.73 gears in the back and it is NOT a highway car because of the gearing. I could not imagine driving it more than a couple of hours or so on the highway. Come look at it. I think it is a very desirable, ollectible car.
No warranties guaranteed or implied. I am honest and trying to be accurate. I want the buyer to keep this and be happy with it. I can help with shipping - buyer has to set that up. This is for sale locally as well and I may end auction as needed. I don't really "need" to sell, ut do need the room in garage for new car for driving child. I also reserve the right to send a 500 dollar invoice if buyer takes too long to get shipping in order. I think it is pretty reasonable for the buyer to have shipping set up/scheduled within a couple of weeks. Thanks for looking! Questions are welcome.
