Description for Pontiac GTO 1968
For sale is a 1968 GTO in Aegena Blue, lack interior, nd off-white convertible top. It has the numbers matching engine and transmission. 48,000 original miles. The vehicle was purchased new in Michigan and was driven until 1977. It sat dormant in a garage until 1992 when the second owner in Michigan purchased it. He owned the car for ten years before beginning a complete frame off restoration in 2002-2003. Basically the only components that were never restored and left original the dash, teering wheel and related components. Everything else on the car was completely stripped to bare metal and painted, ncluding the frame. According to the data tag, he original color is April Gold, nd originally had a black top. Every inch of this car has been painted and there is not trace of it ever being April Gold. Fenders were removed, ll jambs painted and clearcoated etc. The engine is completely rebuilt, ngine compartment has been recently highly detailed and freshened up. Under the hood looks factory new. Still has the original Harrison radiator with metal tags. I have upgraded the points and condenser setup with a Pertronix electronic version. It is contained within the distributor cap so there is nothing noticable about it, ust one extra wire going to the coil. Carburetor is completely rebuilt using an upgraded accelerator pump, ompatible with today's ethanol fuel. The pumps in the rebuild kits do not work. The suspension has an upgraded 1-1/4" front sway bar and an added rear sway bar. It has a rear power antenna which the previous owner added during the body and paint work. Antenna motor was recently replaced and goes up and down when the radio is turned on or off. The original AM radio has an internal AM/FM upgrade conversion so it can play both frequencies and retain its original appearance. It has Rally II wheels with BF Goodrich Radial TA tires. The floor mats and rear bumper are original and not replaced. Chrome on the rear bumper shines like new and is original. It was polished when the car was restored. This is a beatiful high level restoration. I am glad to answer any questions or send more pictures.
