Description for Pontiac Bonneville 1960
This stunning 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe was built at the Southgate, alifornia General Motors Assembly Plant, ccording to its VIN. This plant opened in 1936 to build Buicks, ldsmobiles and Pontiacs for sale on the west coast. Southgate is a suburb of Los Angeles, even miles southeast of downtown I am told. I believe this Bonneville stayed in the Los Angeles area, ossibly cruising as far south as Newport Beach, ntil it was purchased in 2006 and brought to northeast Oklahoma.I was told that this Bonneville had about 71,000 original miles when the restoration began. When purchased and taken to Oklahoma it had about 81,000 miles on her. The odometer now shows 85, 43 miles.
It is an older restoration but certainly does not show her age. She is just as beautiful as she ever was. The exterior is "Silver Blue"Metallic Poly. It has all the factory trim and beautiful gold Bonneville accents on the outside. The paint, hrome and stainless are very nice. The custom interior is fashioned after the original style and done in Silver Blue and Pearl White roll and tuck with matching blue carpet. Again all the factory Bonneville touches, olished walnut panel cove, assenger "grab bar"and distinct gold with red Bonneville series name plate are there. The dark blue, robably original, added dash is in great condition. A Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system with remote is hidden in the glove box. The plush back seat has a fold down arm rest with the Bonneville script on the insert above. Door panels are matching.
I was told the 303 h.p. — 389 c.i. engine is original to the car. The engine was rebuilt during the restoration, orted and polished heads, n Isky 264 H Cam installed, tock intake manifold powder coated and a nice custom fan shroud and filler panel installed. It also got an Edelbrock 600-cfm 4-bbl Carb and a 100 Amp Alternator. The four speed Hydra-Matic transmission, hich I was told was original to the car, as rebuilt at restoration also. It has the original 3:08 rear axle and dual exhaust. It has what Pontiac called the "Wonder Touch"power steering and Power brakes. Pontiac described them as having heavy drums, enerous brake linings with precision fit plus extra large front cylinders to give longer life and surer stops. They must have been right because she stops well.
This pretty Bonneville has an adjustable air ride system using Firestone air springs and HAL adjustable shocks. An air pump and two —five gallon reservoir tanks adjust the ride level. A small controller inside the car handles the adjustment. I feel the air ride makes it handle the curves much better and it cruises smoothly down the highway.
The wheels are HKW 20"X 8"with 255/35R-20 Falken Radials. I was told the center caps and bolts are 24K plated.
The trunk is upholstered to match the interior, he same blue carpet and has the "Bonneville" script on the back panel. The back panel opens and contains the Kenwood 10-disc CD changer and Audio Tech 5-channel Amp. There is a panel that opens on each side of the trunk that contains the silver blue air tanks for the air shock system.
The body panels line up very nice, he doors click shut like new, ood fit all around. Windows roll up and down very nice. This leads me to believe that it probably has never been in an accident. I see no sign of patch panels.
The paint is really very nice but there are two very small spots on the car, ach in a different location, hat I would have to point out to you. The gas gauge is a little erratic. The original radio is there but it is either not wired up since the hidden system was installed or it does not work. I do not know which. The undercarriage is clean, ot greasy, ut maybe not ready for mirrors. She has been driven and enjoyed. The windshield wipers work and the wiper arms are stored in the trunk. There are three fine cracks in the paint that is on the steering wheel. Easily filled or touched up.
This vehicle is being sold as is, here is, ith no warranty, xpressed written or implied. I would recommend that any interested buyer examine the car yourself and to have satisfied him or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. I have made a diligent effort to accurately describe this vehicle. Please do not ask the reserve.
The only thing that would draw more attention than this beautiful Bonneville, nywhere you take it, ould be if you arrived in the space shuttle!
