Description for Pontiac Fiero 1987

1987 Fiero GT 5 speed, edium red metallic, an cloth interior. I actually liked this car so well that I bought it twice. I originally bought it in 2000 from the original owner at approximately 40,000 miles. I sold it to a friend in 2003 at 90,000 miles and always regretted selling it. I had an opportunity to buy it back in 2011 at 150,000 miles. The car is currently at 173,000 but it's time to move on.
I would rate the car as fair, owever I can honestly say that it is in better shape overall than any other daily driven Fiero that I have personally seen. It's not a showcar by anyone's definition, ut it still gets compliments. I'm currently looking for a 1988 and even though I really like this car, 'm just not willing to put in the minor work needed to make this a really nice car. It remains a good, eliable car that I drive daily. It simply comes down to the fact that I'd rather put that money toward an '88.
Below is an exhaustive list of all known issues with the car.
PAINT-- Paint varies from excellent to poor. The vertical surfaces look good, owever the roof forward of the sail, nd the spoiler both need repainted. The pictures represent the paint well.
STEERING RACK-- Rack should be rebuilt or replaced. I do not feel that it's unsafe, nd still have no issue driving it, ut it does need a rebuild.
INTERIOR-- Interior actually looks really good, owever there are a couple of trim pieces that are misaligned or delaminating. Headliner is drooping in a couple places.
GAS TANK VENT-- The tank vent is either deteriorated or needs reattached at the upper end of the filler. This presents no issue other than it will drip gasoline from the filler when fueling. It does not cause any leak when driving, etting, tc.
OIL LEAK-- Drips a little oil. Appears to just be the gasket on the drain plug, ut I haven't investigated beyond a quick look under the car. I'll replace the gasket only if it gets to an oil change before sale.
DRIVERS SEAT-- Two small holes approximately 1/4 in diameter.
MANIFOLD BOLT -- Sounds as though an exhaust manifold bolt may be broken. Very faint tick when cold under acceleration.
RIMS-- There are actually no issues with the rims, owever I would like to keep them as a second set for an eventual '88. That being the case, f you plan on putting aftermarket rims on the car, WILL REFUND YOU $300 FROM THE WINNING BID IF YOU RETURN THE FACTORY RIMS UNDAMAGED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE. If you like the rims, o problem. Go ahead and keep them.
Besides those issues, he car is good shape. Drivetrain has no issues. The car is really at a crossroads. You can continue driving it as is. You could put very little in it and have among the best driver Fieros out there, r go all out and have a solid start for a full restoration. It's up to you. I've always loved the car. It's jut time for me to move on.
Vehicle is located near Huntington, ndiana. Buyer is responsible for pickup, r you may arrange your own shipping. $500 non refundable deposit is required at close. Balance accepted as cash. We also have a PNC bank nearby so if you are not comfortable carrying cash, ou can use that bank in person at pickup. Please remember, our bid in a binding agreement, nd as with any major purchase, would strongly recommend inspecting the vehicle in person.
I will consider trading it plus cash towards an '88.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON PHOTOS: You will notice these pictures are from last fall. I first intended to sell the car then, ut opted to keep it for one more winter. The pictures are still 100% representative of the car. I have also included 2 photos snapped this morning (imprinted 1/28/16). If you want any other current photos of any aspect of the car, lease do not hesitate to ask and I will gladly get them for you.
Additional Note: The Autocheck lists an accident on 9/7/2011. I hit a coyote with the car. There was no damage to the vehicle. You may call the Wells County Indiana Sheriff Department at 260-824-3426 and request a copy of incident report 901687915 if you would like to verify this.
