Description for Pontiac GTO 1969

1969 Pontiac GTO Factory 4 Speed Convertible
Hello up for purchase is a PHS documented 69 GTO Convertible 4 speed convertible. I will do my best to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible with as much detail as I can. I encourage you to read the description in its entirety, ook at all the photos closely and ask questions after you have done so if you are interested in purchasing this 69 GTO convertible project car.
I have owned this car for many years and it has always been stored in our warehouse. When we purchased the GTO it did not have its original engine/trans or rear end. It had also had a cosmetic restoration done by someone. During that cosmetic resto, nbsp;they installed rear quarter panel patches. You can clearly see where these were installed. They had also put repair patches in the trunk. I have removed those patches so you can see what repair will need to be done. The frame has a significant rust on the drivers side rear section. I have included a photo of the frame. I did not look an closer at the frame as I feel that it will need to be replaced. I have a decent, ut not perfect frame that I will offer to the person who purchases the car for $500 extra. The frame is ONLY available to the purchaser for that price.
DJ GTO is a new and used Pontiac parts distributor. I sell these types of project cars from time to time when I find them. This particular one comes from my private collection. One thing that sets us apart from any other seller is that I will wholesale the restoration parts needed for this project to the buyer. That is a HUGE savings versus having to pay retail for the parts. I have actually saved previous customers more than what they paid me for their cars! NO ONE ELSE does this that I am aware of in any industry.
Exterior:Vehicle doesn't appear to have any body damage related to accidents or crash. Front bumper appears to be straight and solid and fit the front end fairly well.Fenders both appear to be straight, nbsp;but both have a little rust showing down low behind the tire. Doors are also both straight rear corners look good, nbsp;but front corners have a little rust showingQuarters have both had previous repair and will most likely need to be replaced. Hood has had a tach (rough) added, nbsp;shows a little bit of rust, nd a slight kink. Windshield doesn't look bad, nbsp;but unable to get a really good inspection with the windshield still installed. Windshield is cracked.Floor pans are not too bad showing rust in the edges over top the braces and a little under the driver and pass feet area. Some rust under rear seat as well. Trunk floor has been previously patched, nbsp;however they did cut out the bad area so it is easy to see what needs repair or replaced. The A and B pillars both look to be very solid. The trunk seal lip area appears to be very solid. Although there is rust and previous repair, nbsp;the body seems to be very straight and a good foundation to start with showing no previous accident damage that we can see and the panels that the car needs are readily available. Trunk lid is very clean under the lip. Has a some slight bubble in the exterior. Rear bumper is solid and fairly straight.
Interior: Seats all in excellent shape. Frames area great, nbsp;even the material is not too bad. Headrests have NO cracks.Dash pad does have a crack on the pass side, nbsp;but doesn't look like the hole for the radio has been modified. All dash components are there, owever it does not have the original radio (sorry, nbsp;I am out of 69 radios at this time)New carpet has been installed. Door panels are complete but slightly weathered.
Drivetrain:As noted above, hen I purchased the car it had an incorrect engine. I have installed a period correct dated and coded 69 WT 400Block 69 WT all internals are included, nbsp;but not installedHeads are #48 correct RA III or factory 4 speed for GTO. Heads are VERY nice and have excellent casting #'s. One head has a broken valve, nbsp;but NO damage to the head. Carb is a generic 4bbl quadrajet, ir cleaner is correct 69 dual snorkel.Trans is a 67 close ratio 4 speed. It is hard of hearing. But the ear is included. Rear end is unknown, nbsp;but doesn't look like an original. Sorry, nbsp;not sure the ratio, ear or even if it is a posi. I can look closer if you need to know. The drivetrain will need to be rebuilt. and NO it does not run currently.
Overall this is an excellent project car, nbsp;but it is just that a PROJECT car. This is not a car that you can bring home and get on the road in a weekend with a little TLC. The car need to be restored. That being said it is a REAL 1969 Pontiac GTO 4 speed convertible and is a great factory color. This is a GTO well worth the time, nd effort to restore.
