Description for Pontiac Le Mans 1972

This auction is for a 1972 Luxury LeMans PROJECT CAR! It must be towed & is not driveable.
If you're looking for a project car to build as a restomod or if you own a rust bucket 70 - 72 GTO ~ LeMans that may be a little too rusted to restore than this may be the car you're looking for! Overall this is a great start on a project!
I purchased this project car as it sets in '92 and have had it tucked away in storage waiting for it's turn at completion, unfortunately I just have too many other irons in the fire & this one needs to go. It was a solid Southern car that the previous owner started a frame off restoration which he was not able to complete.
It has a good start as both quarters were professionally replaced with full NOS GM 1/4's, the doors, trunk lid and hood are rust free parts purchased from Arizona. The back window area is solid with no signs of rust. The rear bumper was a replacement years ago and it is still in very nice shape, straight with no bad chrome. The front bumper has good chrome but is a little sun faded, it is straight and undamaged. The firewall, core support & header panel were blasted & left unpainted so they are surface rusted (before I got it) but they should all clean up with a light blasting & paint. No front fenders come with it (they came up missing from body shop) but there are a pair of front inner fenders with it. All of the window trim & glass is there but the windshield is cracked. The front floor pans need some rust repair as does the trunk pan. Minor rust holes in the lower front cowl area but the rocker panels are solid, no rust in the rockers. This was started as a frame off restoration and the shell is just setting on the frame now. There are no body bushings or bolts so keep that in mind when you transport it, you will need to strap the body securely to the frame. The rear end is a 12 bolt "O" type rear from a 1970 Olds 442, gear ratio is unknown. I have a TH400 core to go with this and the engine setting in it currently is a junk 71 350 2bbl unit that is good for parts only. It could possibly be rebuilt if you wanted to I guess, I mainly kept it for the brackets, bolts and accessories.
The interior is fairly complete but the seats & door panels will need to be recovered. The dash pad is the correct '72 style pad and is in good condition with no cracks in the vinyl but there is masking tape residue from when the body shop had it masked to protect it while they were doing the quarters. Some "goof off" should easily clean the tape residue off. Most all of the parts are here but expect to search for things like hardware, seat belts misc bits & brackets.
