Description for Pontiac Catalina 1951
I want to start off by asking you to please call forhonest answers BEFORE you bid. Or better yet, come by and look at the vehicle or have someone inspect it for you. I do the best I can describing my vehicles and I include very good pictures that can be expanded. I do this to try and avoid any misunderstandings. It is impossible to list every little item on a vehicle that may or may not beimportant to a buyer. Thanks. Also, please read thepayment section carefully. Iwill not vary off of what isexplained there. Cashiers checks may have hold put on them by my bank. My bank will give me a letter of how long the hold will be. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. The length of hold depends on the bank that it is sent from. Some smaller banks cantake up to 10 business days. The car will not leave here until my banksays the check has cleared. No exceptions. That is why I like wire transfers and cash.
This is a super nice 2 door business coupe cruiser. I have owned this car for 6 years now. It has been my go to car when the weather is questionable. Not a show car, but a great, reliable, cruiser with just the right amount of natural patina.
Body: Very solid and absolutely rust free. Floor and trunk pans are perfect. The paint appears to be all original and in very good shape minus somegreat looking patina. Still shines. All of the chrome and stainless trim is in good to excellentcondition. Windows roll up and down as they should. Doors close great. The trunk lid is held down by gravity. The car has beenlowered 2". It has a 1980 Monte Carlo subframe that is done so well, that is almost impossible to see that it is not original to the car. ( see pics ) Disc brakes up front. Original 80 Monte Carlo 10 bolt rear end with drum brakes. Stops great with power booster. Powersteering makes steering almost too easy. And, Yes, the indian head on the hood lights up like it should.
Driveline: original 267 cu in Chevrolet 2barrelV-8 and Turbo 350 Trans. Again out of the same donor car. With the 2barrel carb it gets around 25 MPG. The engine and trans are in great shape. Starts right up every time. No issues here at all. It actually has quite a bit of power. No issues with getting out in traffic and keeping up with it. Made several long trips with it. Twice to the Hunnert car pile up. It is some of the videos from those shows.
Interior: Nice patina here too. Seat covers and door panels are very good but do show some wear. Dash has great looking natural patina. All of the originaldashgauges work due tosomeresistor the builder installed toconvert them to 12 volt. After market radio that works. Wipers work.
Misc. : I have boxes ofextra general parts for this car. Fender skirts painted to match the body. Very nice original hub caps. That all will come with the car.
But, I also have some items that can be purchased separately after theauction is over such as extra fenders, hoods, grille, bumpers, and lots of stainless trim and other chrome items. I collected a lot ofextra parts for this car over the years because I planned on keeping it for a long time. I guess 6 years is long enough? Ifthis one does not sell, I will not mind keeping it a while longer.
I have a clear Missouri title and it is in my name. The only problem is thatsomewhere along the line there was a typo made. It is titled as a 1952, not as the 1951 that it is. The 2 years are so close to the same inappearance, and since having it corrected in Missouri was just too big of a hassle, I left it as a '52.
I will not give out my reserve price. Please do not ask.
NO TRADES, PLEASE DO ASK ASK.
You can make a reasonable offer if you wish, but I will not end the listing once the auction hits thereasonable reserve price.
Now for the business end. I encourage you, or someone you trust or hire, to come by and check out the vehicle in person. I will refund your deposit if the vehicle does not match the abovedescription. The vehicle does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. Bank and cashiers checks can take up to 10 business days. My bank will give me a letter stating the date when the check will clear. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. Bank transfers can take up to 2 days depending on what time of the day it is initiated on your end. Again, my bank will let me know when it clears. Cash is great if picking it up in person.
