Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1979

Please read carefully before bidding: 1979 Pontiac Trans Am for Sale. The vehicle is equipped with an Olds 6. 6l 403 motor and automatic transmission. The car now has a show condition paint job with fresh decals. This is probably it's best point. The body was stripped to metal and fairly straight to begin with. The chrome was redone. A window door seal with felt was installed. The drivers door glass is scratched and should be replaced from this piece being defective. The rear tail lenses are in poor repair cosmetically. It had no serious rust issue and no body panels were replaced or had major damage. I have pictures of the before. It was a blue color originally as per the trim tag. The vehicle was purchased as a project. I don't have time to finish and I am selling as is for lack of space and desire. The car is a running driving car however not restored and fairly original. That being said. the car is 30 plus years old and I know little about the previous ownership. The car appears to have always been in a dry climate and was purchased here in Texas where I am told it has resided it's life that we know about. I have driven the car a total of 300 miles. Those trips were to and from the paint shop and the trip I made when I originally purchased the vehicle. In the time I spent driving the car I know the following. The car has headers and an exhaust leak on the drivers side manifold. It needs a tune up but does not smoke or make unusual sounds or knocks. It does not leak oil to any noticeable degree. I have had it parked a while now and there is no oil on the concrete and the bottom of the car is relatively dry. The brakes work however when stopping for an extended time the pedal goes to the floor so something needs to be done there. Headlamps are misaligned. The horn blows intermittently when turning the steering wheel for no apparent reason. The air compressor was removed by previous owner and stowed in the trunk. In general the engine compartment. interior and overall aspects of the car appears to be in original condition. There have been no major modifications or fooling around with the wiring and such apparent. The dash is cracked and the door panels are in poor condition. The interior in general needs help. Its not horrible but far from excellent. The car steers and drives fairly well. The handling is reasonable. The mileage shows 18212. I could believe that it is 118212 or more. Its doubtful its is over 200k in my opinion but that's all it is and I am only basing it on a bunch of old cars I've owned and played with. I'm not an expert. So in summary here's the picture. The drive train is probably original and being 30 plus years old and a sports car it's old and tired. It could use some freshen up as could the interior. The car has a great body and is a good start to a project or someone's weekend toy. This isn't a car I would buy and drive home across several states. I drove it over a coupe hundred miles home and it made it and didn't get hot or break down. I also drove it in Texas in the summer and it was well over 95 that day. But I wouldn't count on it for any distance mechanically. That's my opinion. The reserve will be set very low and once met the car will be sold to highest bidder. Please do not bid if you have low or no feedback. I will cancel your bid if you do so without contacting me. Questions?: 817-715-2112
