Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1979
IF YOU HAVE INTEREST IN A BLACK TRANS AM WITH A GOLD BIRD, 400 CUBIC INCH ENGINE, 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND THE SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT LOOK, " this one may be for you". HOW ABOUT RUST ISSUES? I see no rust bubbles in the paint, the underside looks very solid to me, I see no hole or swelled places, I do see some peeling under coating and surface rust. I see no sub frame issues, its just not detailed like a show car. HOW IS THE ENGINE? Its a good running 400 cubic inch, I hear no knocks, no unwanted pings, it is detailed nice. It has a dual line Holley with a manual choke not hooked up, just let the car warm up good. I think its too much carburetor, but its what guys like. HOW IS THE TRANSMISSION? You do not see many Trans Am's with a 4 speed manual. It shifts good and the clutch feels good to me. HOW IS THE PAINT? The paint is nice driver quality. What I mean is its not a perfect roll out of the trailer show queen job. If you look for a flaw or spec you can find it! The shine is very good, I see not dents and no rust bubbles. The worst thing I see is some hair line cracks in the paint on the thin rubber nose. If the painter does not use a flex agent in the paint it will crack on the rubber, it is thin and moves. Most of the Trans Am's nose have these hair line cracks. HOW IS THE BIRD AND DECALS? The bird on the hood in nice, I see no fading or peeling on it. The other stripes and decals are nice, a couple of loose ends down low. HEAD LIGHTS WORK! TAIL LIGHTS WORK! TURN SIGNALS WORK! BRAKE LIGHTS WORK! WIPERS WORK! HORN WORKS! GAS GUAGE WORKS! OIL GUAGE WORKS! TACHOMETOR IS NOT WORKING! It is hooked up on the distributor. AIR CONDITIONING blows cold, but the transfer from floor to dash is not working. I will check to see if the door vacuum is connected or bad. It is probably the slide control assembly, I don't have time to pull it out, too many projects started. The air cools its just comes out low. HOW ARE THE BRAKES? Good brakes, disc in front and power assisted. HOW DOES THE CAR DRIVE? To me it drives real good, it is power steering. HOW IS THE GLASS? The only problem I see with the glass is a small mark at the corner of the windshield were the wiper goes over. HOW IS THE INTERIOR? Good interior, I see no wear in the seats, door panels real nice, carpet good, the dash has 2 small cracks. HOW IS THE SUN ROOF? Past owner said it was factory, I do not know. Some people call this type a his and her sun roof. HOW ARE THE TIRES AND WHEELS? Tires look new, wheels good, but are dull. WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO THE CAR IF YOU KEPT IT FOR EVER? I don't love the muffler sound, it OK, but I like Flow Master sound. I would paint the rubber nose, I would put a AC controller in if that's what ends up being bad. I would freshen up the wheels.
