Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1986
Up for sale is a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am used as a daily driver before it was treated to some extra attention some years ago.
Of course the body was addressed and repainted in the stock white color, which makes for an attractive combination in concert with the refinished aluminum wheels. During the paint process only GM replacement parts were used in the few areas that required replacement parts. The chassis was also refurbished at that time with all suspension components being rebuilt or replaced to insure that the superior ride and handling these cars were known for are preserved.
Since this was a complete restification the powertrain also received a good deal of attention. The tired 190 horsepower 305 was replaced with a Pace Performance 350 crate motor very similar to that used on the mid nineties Impala SS raising the out put to approximately 300. To complement the displacement upgrade a Quadra Jet was rebuilt and recalibrated by Jet Performance to properly feed the new engine. Backing the new engine is a Goodwrench transmission with overdrive for easy cruising.
The interior was also updated with recovered seats in the stock red/gray combination. All the other attractive and functional Pontiac equipment was left alone and continues to be functional and informative.
After all the work was done this car has only accumulated 15,000 additional recreational cruising miles. The combination of the upgrades make for a comfortable ride with additional horsepower yet retaining the excellent stock handling and stopping power. Pop out the leak free T-tops, turn up the stock radio and enjoy this slightly modernized yet retro-vibed Pontiac. It is priced at a reasonable $8,000 and shipping can be arranged if necessary for an additional cost. For more information contact David at Palmetto Classic Cars llc at 864-586-3586.
