Description for Pontiac Firebird 1981
Here at DC Classic Cars East we see a lot of custom builds come through the doors here. One of the most popular style of builds we've seen over the course of the last 5-10 years has to be the pro-touring style build. Basically a pro-tourer boils down to this the car is built for not just straight line speed but every aspect of the build is meant to pack the most performance into the car to make it handle as good as it looks. This is definitely the case for this 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. ...Without a doubt this has to be one of the most fun cars we've ever driven. A moderately build LS2 V8 is stuffed under the hood that cranks out a dyno-proven 511hp at the crank and a 419 rear-wheel horsepower. Bolted to that engine is a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual that sends power to a LSD rear end with 3.73 rear gears. But it doesn't stop there under the car you'll find tubular control arms sub frame connectors front and rear sway bar poly-urethane bushings and 4-wheel power disc brakes. If you are in the market for a fully built Pro-Touring performance machine that is ready to be enjoyed and take home first place trophies then you would be hard pressed to find a better car for the dollar amount.
