Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1989
This listing is for the rare 1989 Pontiac Firebird 20th Anniversary Trans Am model that is known for its 3.8L V6 turbo engine that also powered the Buick Regal turbo cars. It served as the Indianapolis Pace Car on May 29, 1989.
In the Trans Am, this engine resulted in stock performance times of 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and a quarter mile of 13.4 seconds….in 1989!
This specimen is number 1,030 of 1,555 produced and comes with a leather interior and T-Tops. It currently has 6,82x miles and is in outstanding condition, including a driver’s side seat bolster that is in great shape (the driver’s side seat bolster is notorious for cracking and splitting on these cars).
The paint has held up superbly and the undercarriage is very clean. There is no rust. The stock rubber rear spoiler is also known to rot on these cars. It has been replaced with a Hawks Third Gen fiberglass unit and it is painted perfectly to factory specs. I have the original spoiler if desired.
Modifications are very tastefully done and can be returned to stock within a day.
They include (have all stock parts unless denoted otherwise):
Conversion to E85 (80lb injectors, high quality DW300 fuel pump, turbo tweak chip)
K&N Filter with LS1 MAF and MAF Translator
· Down pipe
· Ta49 Turbo
· Larger stock placement intercooler (do not have the original - however the larger unit looks stock)
· Aftermarket gauges for boost and fuel pressure (secured by velcro and not screwed into the pillar)
· Aftermarket radio for Bluetooth (steering wheel radio controls are not functional as I did not want to cut wires). Have stock radio (steering controls would work) and speakers as well which were replaced
· Powerlogger and Scanmaster which are a must for these cars.
I also have an extra set of rims (black) with drag radials. Original owners kit (which can fetch over $1,500 on its own) is included along with other documents. Also have a bunch of other stock parts that will be included. Like new tires. A dyno video is available upon request.
The car was professionally tuned by one of the best Turbo Buick tuners in the Midwest. Car is sold without a warranty.
With the current setup, the car would down 410RWHP safely on 25lbs of boost.
