I am listing this car for my friend Ed, I will do my best to describe the car accurately and "I will call it as I see it" which is the way Ed wants it to be. I have never driven the car but I have ridden in it. The current owner my friend Ed has known this car since he was 16 years old when his childhood friend bought it new.Ed is a honest guy and will tell you straight about the car and that's the reason I'm willing to help him sell it here.

This is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with a dealer installed 1969 428 H.O. SJ GP 1 motor installed when new at Pino Pontiac in Oxford, Pennsylvania. ( Note: originally I stated it was a 1968 engine, it is a 1969 428 HO SJ GP 1). I'm told it's a rare engine with hp ratings starting at 425+ in that class of engines. The actual hp of this car is unknown. This car has very little rust practically none at all, Car has been garage kept and hardly driven with only 29,033 miles. Ed has only put approx. 2000 miles on it since he has owned it. Car has a full fiberglass front end with Camaro rear quarter panels. As far as I know the rear quarters were replaced because the Camaro quarters are more stylish?...please call Ed with any detailed questions, 215-373-8820. Paint is ok it's not a show car, it's more of a 5 footer but this is the perfect start for a show car, drag car or something like a autocross race car. It just needs a little tlc around the body and interior to really take it to the next level of show quality. Someone (I believe the original owner) at sometime (before Ed owned it) was turning it into some kind of show/race car but never really finished the body work before painting if you look at it up close. My straight opinion is it looks like they were trying to get the body really straight but it needed 1 more final skim coat of lightweight body filler in some spots to really finish it before paint. Someone who does not know what they are looking at might not see this at all but any serious car guy will notice the minor flaws. Front seats and dash pad have a few cracks but all the interior is original and needs a new head liner as seen in the picture. Door and window rubbers are original and show their age but I believe are functional. Radio is nothing great but has nice speakers in the rear...at this point the radio, speakers or what follows here in the rest of the description shouldn't really matter...It's a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with 29,033 miles with a rare dealer installed engine package, no rot, no rust, with a first hand account of the cars history since new. I've built cars starting from rusty shells if you know what I'm talking about...starting a build with a car this clean makes all the difference especially for the budget. It has a turbo 400 transmission which is not original and has manual kick down, It has a 2:1 ratio steering box which makes the car turn on a dime, the rear is a 12 bolt Auburn Posi with 373 gears. Rear was redone approx. 20 years ago and has recently started making some noise in the differential. It still drives it is just making some kind of noise...Call Ed, 215-373-8820. It has Herb Adams Suspension, Sub Frame Connectors, Weld Pro Star wheels, New Tires, New Gas Tank but gas gauge is not working. All other gauges, lights, wipers, etc works as it should.
