Description for Pontiac Chieftain 1950
This 1950 Pontiac Chieftain is a well-presented classic - right down to the straight-eight and Silver Streak trim that makes these absolutely distinctive. So when something this cool is also so affordable, you know it's time to take notice. This slick Pontiac manages to be both sporty and formal at the same time as it combines the last of the old-school pre-war curves with a sneak preview of what was to come in the later 1950s. The two-tone paint is factory correct, but it benefits from a refresh later in life. Both colors represent their era well, and at the same time, they both have the right amount of gloss to help showcase the body that has remained amazingly straight for nearly seven decades. In fact, this one looks well-preserved, down to the details like the wheel covers, fender skirts, and the famous amber Indian head hood ornament. And of course, as a true classic Pontiac, you get the hallmark sliver streak trim running the full length of the hood and also cascading down the deck lid. Inside is a nice mix of originality and newer components. After all, the cloth seats and coordinating door panels have a fresher presentation. The dash is pure vintage jet-age cool, with a giant radio speaker that's aviation inspired, and the Sliver Streak labeled gauges look like they came from a bomber. And more evidence of the fabulous '50s can be found in the original steering wheel and stylish horn button. Pontiac's straight-eight motor earned a reputation for being smooth, reliable, and quite sturdy. These naturally balanced powerplants had a creamy smoothness usually reserved for luxury cars, and it helped Pontiac transcend its budget-minded market placement. Authentic right down to the oil bath air cleaner and Carter carb, this motor is a real attention-getter for its honest survivor-style appearance. This torquey motor is mated to an automatic transmission, which makes it a fine cruiser today. A distinct classic that drives nicely is always a nice find. So when it's also this affordable, it's irresistible. Call today!!!
