Description for Pontiac Fiero 1986
1986 Pontiac Fiero GT Custom Fastback finished in White with a Blue/Grey interior. a 511c.i. V8 engine and backed by a 425 3-speed automatic transmission. A custom, V8 powered Fiero should be on everyone's shortlist as the power-to-weight ratio is magnificent and the experience is one you'll never forget. Professionally built, this Pontiac features a Holley 950cfm carburetor, 3,800 stall converter, custom 35-spline rear axles, 1" rear sway bar, and 4-wheel disc brakes. The look is...all stock until you open the hood. This is a true sleeper. Praised for its handling, comfort, and build quality, the Pontiac Fiero pioneered new concepts and production methods, as well as new materials as the first production car in the world to use a space/frame chassis with a separate body shell composed of SMC Sheet Molded Composite. The Fiero's enduring legacy is its revolutionary space-frame design. Beyond that, Pontiac patented the construction process for their "Endura Flex" body panels. Built from 1984-1988, the Fiero has a cult following with many enthusiasts doing build such as this example has been a part of. The GT was the top-of-the-line variation introduced in 1985 and featured distinctive rear styling, with buttress glass at the deck lid to complement the sharper nose, body sills, and an optional rear spoiler. 1988 marked the end of production for the Fiero and the legacy it left behind as America's only mass-produced mid-engine two-seater. GM had purchased Lotus which helped to tune the suspension on the 1988 Fiero GT and Formula version that gave them the refinement they had planned on since the car's creation. The interior of the Fiero GT is attractive and highly functional, not to mention also very futuristic when introduced, all gauges are easy to read and controls are well-located and easily accessible.
