Description for Pontiac Chieftain 1956
LOWER RESERVE PRICE.I'm listing my 1956 Pontiac Chieftain 4dr. I just got back from a 7 hr trip in the car, and had zero issues with it. I drive it frequently on hour or less trips and around town and its very dependable. I bought it as a older resto in stock form and added some touches to get it more to my style. I'll add a detailed description of the car below:Body and Chassis: The paint on the car shines and looks good for its age. Its is a older paint job and does have some scrapes, cracks, bumps, and chips here and there. The car is 98.9% rust FREE!! all the pans and panels are super solid! There is no bondo, patches, or fillers packed in this car anywhere. The worse part is the rust under the front fender molding, and its only surface rust.
Wheels and Tires: Brand new Us Royal 6.70 x 15 wide white wall tires. New chrome smoothie wheels and caps. All less than 500 miles on them!
Running gear: The car still has the original 316 backed by a automatic trans. It does have a newer aluminum radiator installed. The exhaust on the car is all brand new with glass pack mufflers and bell flowers tips ran out the rear. Both the front and rear universal joints are new.
Suspension: The front suspension is dropped with FATMAN Fabrication 2 inch drop uprights as well as 2 coils cut off the springs, It has NEW brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake hardware, bearings and seals. The drums was also turned and the king pins are NEW. It has had a alignment done since the work was completed. The brakes will stop it on a dime. The rear is dropped with 4 inch drop blocks.
Interior: The interior is decent in the car. The dash is complete and in stock form. The bottom of the front seat needs some attention, we have it covered with a Mexican blanket at the moment. The rest of the panels/back seat are all presentable. It has a amateur installed headliner and visor that was done when we bought the car. All the glass in the car is good and works as they should. The windshield gasket and door seals was replaced more recently. The wipers work as they should. The speedometer does not work. It does have a aftermarket stereo installed under the dash that works. All the lights in the car work!
Trunk: The trunk has the factory mat still in it. The floor pans are super solid with most of the factory paint still on it. It does have a spare, bumper jack, and tools still in it.
I built the car to be driven! It is a very dependable car that looks good and grabs plenty of attention! It not a show car by any means. It has some wear and tear but I'm not scared to get in it and go anywhere! On a smooth road this ol car rides like a new Cadillac! The rear end does slightly bottom out on the frame when it has a heavier load in it. It could be easily fixed with a small notch. It does NOT affect the car and doesn't bother me! It currently still has the tags and insurance on it. Its gets drove!
