Description for Pontiac Firebird 1969
The brag sheet on this one is impressive: boasting a strong small block, solid restoration, power convertible top, power brakes and power steering â€" not to mention the attention-grabbing Golden Rod Yellow paint â€" this is the 1st gen Pontiac you've been searching for. Move now or regret it later. This car is a super nice driver, and there's definitely no shame in that. Sure, everybody thinks they want a trailer queen that's perfect, all at a bargain-basement... price, but the truth is that cars like this are the best ones to own. One glance underneath will convince you that this car was always straight, and the bright yellow bodywork shows off clean lines, making this convertible a smart buy if you're a guy who simply wants some vintage horsepower to enjoy. As a small block car without a racing pedigree like a Trans Am, it led an easier life so the doors fit well, the trunk lid is flush, and the hood is much more subdued and slick for this stylized droptop. It also sports the optional chrome grille/bumper up front which sets it apart from its siblings and that chrome is in solid, original shape. They even resisted the urge to tack on a ducktail spoiler, which Pontiac fans will appreciate because this car deserves to stand out from the crowd. The interior is wearing black seat covers that are good condition and could even possibly be originals, complete with the government-mandated headrests that went into production for 1969. Pontiac was straddling the performance/luxury line and as a result, the interior is full of burled wood applique and other upscale touches, including a sophisticated handle on the ornate shifter. Plush black carpets were fitted nicely from the factory, along with functional original gauges and switches, so this sucker's ready to cruise right now. But beyond the gauges, the interior is pretty much the way Pontiac made it, although a Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo was fitted into the factory slot to provide better open-air tunes. The trunk shows off its solid sheetmetal and a factory mat with nothing to hide, so you can own this one with confidence, and a newer vinyl power top folds itself neatly behind the back seat, and can be neatly covered with a matching boot that is also included. The YE-code 350 V8 under the hood is believed to be the original engine, and according to the stamp on the block this is the lively 265HP version of the spry GM small block. From the original black snorkel air cleaner to the stock-style intake and 2 barrel carb on top to the satin-dusted inner fenders and firewall, it shows quite well and the hood can be popped with pride at the cruise-in. It was all painted in traditional Pontiac Turquoise before being gently nestled between the fenders. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with gears that just loaf along on the highway, making this a car that was made for road trips. A chambered-muffler dual exhaust system gives the small block V8 a wonderfully aggressive demeanor and the suspension is augmented with air shocks in the rear that smooth things up just a bit. Power steering and power brakes are a huge plus in a convertible, so the driver can sit back and enjoy some take-it-easy, two-fingers on the wheel cruising. Very nice Rally II wheels with 205/70/14 Bridgestone radials round out the rolling stock. Nicely restored with plenty to offer, this is one turn-key Pontiac Firebird ragtop that delivers on its promises. Call today!
