Description for Pontiac Safari 1972

1972 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon. This wagon was rescued from a field. I saw it advertised and just had to save it. It is now running and driving. It has a new fuel tank and fuel pump. The car actually runs and drives down the road very well. I have a folder of receipts from the previous owner of a lot of the work that has been preformed over the years that he owned it. A local shop has worked on this car since the late 80's. This shop rebuilt the motor at some point and the transmission was rebuilt just a few years ago. I understand this to be a two owner car until the second owner passed away and left it to his wife. He used the car as his daily driver. The car was originally green with a green interior. He apparently liked red so the car was painted, poorly, at some point and some of the interior was painted red as well. The second owner also place red shag carpet over most of the interior panels. This was good and bad as it probably saved the panels. There is glue residue on them now I believe this residue can be removed. The dash pad is in good shape. The body of the car does have some rust issues. The worst part is the drives side quarter. It was poorly repaired at some point. The passenger side has some rust too, but not as severe. The spare tire wheel well is rusted through. This is the 2nd worst part of the car. I have taken pictures of the fenders etc to show the rest. The frame and floor boards appear to be fine. I did not see any rust issues there. The motor seems to be sound and starts right up even when it has been sitting a while. The transmission shifts are firm. The tail gate will go up and down. The glass will go up and down with assistance. This car has been sitting awhile and the tailgate section needs to be lubricated some more. The switch will need to be cleaned as well. I have not tried to operate the tailgate with the key only. I have some extra parts to go with the car. A very nice set of tail lights. Some door panels from a four door impala. They are green and the front ones will fit just fine. I also have some door sill plates too. I bought the car to save it from being sent to crusher or left to just decay in a field. I have to many other projects to keep and I am not able to store it inside. I want this to go to a good home. The Pontiac 400 runs very well and it is tempting to keep it just for the motor, but I hope that someone will take this car and give it the attention it deserves. Please feel free to call me with any questions 1 806 535 8193.
