Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1973
You are looking at a hard to find and super clean 1973 Trans Am that is completely matching numbers except for the rear axle. That was upgraded to a disc brake rear. This car was sold new at Midtown Chevrolet-Pontiac in August 1973 and immediately shipped overseas to Germany by a gentleman named Fritz Nueesch. The car was imported and had a plate riveted inside the passenger fender which is still there. The car has a speedometer in Kilometers per hour not miles per hour. The car remained there and was restored in 1987 at a cost of almost $32k American dollars. Once the car was restored it led an easy life as a weekend driver. Mr. Nueesch moved to America in 1992 and brought the car with him to Florida. It was used as a nice weather driver up until the second owner purchased it in 2011. The car was then brought to NJ and stored inside and only had about 7k miles put on it in the last nine years. I acquired the car in a trade for my 1970 Buick Stage 1 4 speed convertible project. This car is all numbers matching from the 455 to the turbo 400 trans including the carb and rare unitized ignition system which is pretty much an early version of HEI ignition. The car probably has 25k or less miles on it since it was restored in 1987. The odometer shows 179k kilometers which translates into approx. 111k miles. The body is solid throughout with only a minor chip or ding from use the last 32 years. The body is very straight and the paint still looks really nice. The car did originally come with the bird on the hood but it was not replaced when the car was restored. The floors, Frame and trunk are all in great shape and rust free. The bottom of the car was not detailed but it was undercoated. The motor runs like new with no noises, Smoke or knocks etc. and makes great power. The transmission shifts perfectly and will chirp second gear when you get on it. The exhaust is stock and has a nice rumble to it but it is not too loud. The interior is clean and all of the gauges work as well as the power windows. This bird still rides on its original Honeycomb wheels and nice BFG TA radials. This is a rare car. It is just one of 4,772 Trans Ams made and one of 3,130 automatics made. This was the first year for Buccaneer red and the Screamin chicken on the hood. This is one of the best Trans Ams ever made with this color combo. If I don't sell it I will add the bird to the hood and enjoy it for many years. There are tons of Camaros, Earlier Firebirds and late 70s Trans Ams but not many of the early ones are out there. Stand out at the shows or cruise nights with this rare bird. Any questions please email or call. Thanks for looking.
