Description for Pontiac Trans Am 1976
Rare and desirable 455 with a 4-speed. 32,863 actual miles. I sold this car 16 years ago to a Texas collector. He has about 20 cars, all lovingly cared for. We just acquired the car back from him.EXTERIOR: Very clean rust free, damage free body with only one repaint. Clean, straight metal. The factory spot welds are still visible around the wheel well lips and rockers. Bottom of the doors are clean. The paint shows beautifully while you walk up on it. It is glossy, the decals are excellent. Upon close inspection there are some age flaws. The rubber bumpers, spoilers and fenders flairs are excellent. There are some hairline cracks in the paint on the bumpers. Honeycomb grilles are in excellent shape. Rally ll wheels are in excellent shape including the trim rings and the center caps. BFG tires look like new. All the glass is crystal clear. The trim around the windows is excellent. Door jambs are clean. All the weather strips and window seals are excellent.
INTERIOR: I really like the deluke interior. Very comfortable and very sporty. The red pops against the white exterior. The deluxe seats feel so good. All the upholstery, door panels, headliner, carpet is excellent original. The dash area is mint. Has machine turned bezel with a full set of rally gauges. Very cool formula wheel is on a tilt column. Console is mint. Had a stereo upgrade years ago, the dash is not cut. Its excellent original inside.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: VIN number matching 455 HO. The motor compartment is very clean and complete. Shaker hood scoop is complete with all the proper ductwork and heat riser tube. The vacuum lines, fan shroud, overflow bottle, wiring are all proper. The air conditioning has been serviced. Compressor is replaced, updated with R134 freon and it blows cold air.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Perfectly clean rust free original metal. The original spatter paint from the factory still looks good. Has original collapsible spare and jack. Soft weather strip, insulated mat is mint.
UNDERSIDE: Very clean, well preserved underside. Never been spray painted or touched up. The factory primer is showing in places where there is no undercoat. Even the inner rockers and lower rear 1/4s are dry and clean. No flaky rust on anything. The exhaust was replaced from the converter back. Has correct transverse muffler and splitter chrome tips. The matching vin #s are on the lower part of the engine behind the radiator hose. Has original, vin # matched 4-speed trans. Also has original 3.23 posi rear end. Correct PX code and limited slip tag. Disc brakes in front, e-brake is hooked up.
Great color combination on this low mile survivor. These Trans Ams are fun to drive with sports car handling. 455 with a 4-speed makes it that much better, not to mention collectable!
