Description for Pontiac Firebird 1976
The 1976 Pontiac Trans Am is one of those perfect year cars. A very well integrated design met with the still beating heart of an American muscle legend. So you know it's something special when you can find an all-black example with four-on-the-floor, low mileage, and a ton of great survivor-grade features - including the 400ci V8.Starlight Black is this car's factory color, and if that wasn't already desirable enough, most of it is believed to be factory original. It retains an exceptional gloss and shine, which is what you get on a car that has average under 1,050 miles annually. A nice rich black is great on the '76 coupe, because it's the first year to fully integrate the color-matched urethane bumpers front and rear. The hood did receive a quality respray and a fresh screaming bird decal, because after all, that is a hallmark of these and you want it look great. The golden hood bird goes great with all the other hallmark gold striping that follows all the main lines of the car, including around the fender flares, windows, and accents the full-width rear spoiler. But arguably, the best golden shine comes from the iconic snowflake-style wheels.
The stellar survivor presentation continues inside. We're told this is the full original setup, and it remains vintage and exceptionally clean. High-back bucket seats and a center console give you a great driver's feeling. Full instrumentation was standard on Trans Ams, including the handy large tach. The dials look great set in the iconic and aggressive machine-turned instrument panel. Ahead of that the driver gets the three-spoke sports steering wheel that's another icon of these T/As. You get some nice features like the Delco AM/FM radio and the factory air conditioning is upgraded to R134a refrigerant (will need a recharge.) But the piece you'll love the most is that Hurst shifter - it's your direct gateway to what's in the engine bay.
Beneath the cool hood shaker lies the numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch V8. No one will have no trouble believing you when you tell them about its originality. It retains a very stock appearance in everything from the corporate blue engine enamel on the block, to the air cleaner that still correctly inhales through the front. This has newer fundament components, like the plug wires, hoses, and belts. It's part of a strong running package that gets to inhale deeply from the four-barrel carburetor. You're able to take complete control of the motor thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. And you'll love the howl from the Flowmaster exhaust when you get up into the higher rev ranges. Plus, with power steering, power brakes with front discs, and sway bars front & rear, and it will be tough to resist adding to the low mileage odometer.
The sale come complete with the owner's manual packet and original warranty card. This Trans Am was not only born with the ideal look, but it' a rare survivor, too. That makes for a V8 icon with a story to tell. Call today!!!
