Description for Pontiac GTO 1965
There is an extensive amount of over the top custom work done to meticulous standards. It would cost way over $100,000 to have a professional shop duplicate this car.It certainly will not get over looked, it is an outstanding car!
EXTERIOR: It has obviously been drastically customized. Really look at all that was done and consider the amount of time it must have taken. Let's start at the top. It was chopped 3 inches in front, 4 inches in back and leaned forward 4 inches. The drip rails were removed and smoothed. Front and rear glass had to be cut and was flush mounted. Side glass was eliminated and the window channels were filled and smoothed. The hood had it's emblem removed and racing pins added. The cowl is filled smooth. The trunk had it's emblems and lock removed and filled. On each side all trim and handles were shaved and filled smooth, the body line was altered. In front the headlight bezels and bumper was molded into the car seamlessly. The grills are stainless tubes. In back the bumper was molded into the body. Both bumpers were sucked in and smoothed. The taillights were restyled. The weatherstrips were deleted and the jambs were made smooth. That's just the body work. 50 hours were spent taping and painting the car, those are not decals. The body is laser straight and the paint is polished like glass. It rolls on Boyd Coddington wheels 17x8 in front, 18x8 in back and Goodyear F1 tires.
INTERIOR: There is extensive work inside custom molding things smooth. The kick panels and door panels are smooth. The rear speaker shelf on up to the headliner is all molded and smooth. Custom paint scheme matching the exterior was continued inside, even overhead. The dash area was made smooth, glovebox, ashtray, heater controls were deleted. Digital gauges were installed with a mirrored bezel. Painless wiring system. New upholstery on stock seats. Upgraded 1973 Trans Am steering column with a cushion grip wheel and a Hurst shifter on the floor. New seat belts front and back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rebuilt Chevy big block 427-425 hp. On top it has a polished intake and a big dual feed Holley carb, HEI ignition and is dressed up with finned aluminum valve covers and air cleaner. The front of the motor has billet brackets, pulleys and serpentine belt system. Chrome alternator. Big aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keeps it cool. The radiator support and brackets were custom made. Features include power steering and brakes. The firewall is smooth and custom painted.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It was completely boxed and carpeted. Bottom of the trunk was molded smooth. Side panel opens to a storage compartment. The relocated battery has hold down bracket, battery box, disconnect switch and upholstered cover.
UNDERSIDE: Body was off the frame. The chassis was completely restored, rebuilt and painted. Upfront it has Global West tubular control arms, fat swaybar and all new bushings, balljoints, shocks, springs, tie rods etc. In back it has air bags in the springs, boxed Edelbrock control arms and new swaybar. 2 1/2 exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, premium stainless clamps and crossover pipe. Custom brake system with disc at all four wheels. All new fuel system including tank, straps, lines, electric pump. Bottom of the motor is clean. It has a Turbo 400 automatic and a 10 bolt rear with chrome cover. The floors were prepped and sealed. Under this car is very clean, tidy and proper.
If you want a stand out car, this is it. Whether just a conversation starter at the ice cream shop or competitively judged at a show, it will do well at both. It has been driven 5,500 miles and looks like it was just finished. That says it was really restored right and it was passionately cared for. It's a great value for this level of custom work!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
