Description for Pontiac Firebird 1970
You're looking at my beautiful rust free 1970 Pontiac Firebird with what is believed to be 70,805 original miles (title shows mileage exempt due to age), based on how nice the original interior is and overall condition of the car. My car started life as a 350ci car, but was recently enhanced with a "built" 455ci. This is a rust free example and very nice overall.I have 10 cars and trying to get down to 5 or 6 since a recent move. We don't have the garage/storage space we used to and I hate it! It's tough letting this one go! I am listing this with a low starting price of only $20,000 with NO RESERVE! Last bid wins!
*** I will entertain serious offers to end the listing early as it's listed in other places.
The Firebird was repainted in it's original Coronado Gold a few years ago, and still looks great. All seals and weather stripping were replaced at that time and are in excellent shape. There are a few tiny flaws in the paint that you have to look for, but overall it looks fantastic! The average passerby more than likely would never notice. The chrome brightwork and bumpers are in great shape as well. Body lines and gaps are very good. Front lower valence needs lined up a little better. Doors open and close nicely with a nice solid thunk. I don't believe it was ever in any accidents. Under the hood and inside trunk are very clean and detailed nicely. Again, this is a rust free all metal car with no Bondo! Floors, frame, trunk, rockers, etc are excellent! Original red factory undercoating can be seen in several pics.
The interior is original and in fantastic shape considering it's almost 53 years old. The driver's seat has a very small 2" seam separation on the bottom cushion (can be seen in pics) that's fixable, it just didn't bother me enough to fix as it's not bad at all. The seat covers are original and in fantastic condition overall, and still supple. The car has always been garaged and it shows. Dash has very minor cracking in a small area (see pic), but not bad at all. Door panels are in very good condition. Again, all original. Aftermarket stereo and 3 gauges were added under the dash. A speaker was added to the drivers door panel but not the passenger side. Carpet is very nice. Headliner is very nice, and dome light works. All glass is nice. Windshield and rear window are matching "etched numbered" originals as well.
All 4 chrome wheels and tires are almost brand new. There's a matching 18" 5th spare tire that is included, as well as the original style spare rim/tire and restored jack in the trunk. Tires are Nitto ZR and sizes are 245/45/18 up front, 285/40/18 in the rear.
Car runs and drives well and sounds fantastic! Currently there isn't a kick-down cable installed, but that's a simple easy addition should you desire.
The engine is a 455ci Y3 block built by well known Hansen Racing. It's .30 over, with Eagle nitrated BBC rods, crank was turned, ARP main bolts, Comp Cams XR276HR roller cam, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Speed Pro pistons. Heads are 6X8 and have mild porting and larger exhaust valves. The motor is basically brand new from top to bottom with very few miles on it!
Pypes transverse 2.5" X Pipe exhaust.
Rear end is the original 2.78 open diff. I have a 3.08 posi/disc brake rear that is available to buy if winning bidder is interested.
Suspension was lowered with QA1 front coil over springs, QA1 sway bar and Hotchkis lowering springs, QA1 hydraulic rear shocks. Front disc brakes, rear drum currently.
This is a turn key car that's ready to go. This is not some car that was found in pieces and falling apart and brought back to life. This car has been respected and lovingly cared for over the years, with a refresh a few years ago. Could possibly use a larger starter as sometimes it takes a few turns to fire over, but it always fires up.
I was planning on turning this into a Trans Am clone and bought almost everything external (original correct early Trans Am hood, correct early rear 3 piece spoiler, original correct side vents and correct early original wheel flares that need a little work but are the real deal). These are not included in the auction as I traveled all over the East Coast to buy them from several different sellers and paid quite a bit, but can be negotiated for purchase after the auction is over if so desired. The new owner will be very pleased with this car! It's a super nice driver that can be enjoyed while going up in value over time.
Please ask any and all questions PRIOR to bidding. Also PLEASE don't bid if you don't plan on following thru with the purchase. It not only costs time and money to re-list, but it screws things up for legitimate serious buyers.
I will gladly sell to overseas buyers as well. Feel free to make an offer to end the listing early. No warranties are expressed or implied. All sales are final.
Clean clear South Carolina title, in my name, in my possession.
*** Winning bidder must make a $500 deposit immediately following winning the auction, and the remaining balance is to be bank wired within 3 business. No exceptions.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
