Description for Pontiac Firebird 1976
Up for auction is a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a 400 and automatic trans. This car is in need of a complete restoration but is pretty complete. Body is in good shape with only the driver side lower rear quarter having major rust. The rest of the body appears to only have surface rust. Trunk is very solid with minimal rust (nothing appears to have rusted through). Floor pans appear to be the same with the worst spot being the toe boards of the driver side. I poked around with a screwdriver with no spots breaking through. Cleaning the surface rust and applying something like POR15 might be all that needs to be done to that spot. Interior needs a complete resto but most everything is there. The driver seat has been broken at the hinge. It may need to be welded. but I'm not sure. Windshield is cracked and one grille is missing. Urethane bumpers have some cracking and aging. but are restorable in my opinion. Engine appears to be original (casting numbers indicate it is at least the correct year). Engine runs and car can drive. but barely. The car sat for years before I bought it (last registered in 2003). When I changed the oil before I started it for the first time. there was water in the oil (when I bought it from the previous owner. the motor was covered with the shaker). I don't know if it was from the radiator or if rain got in the motor. I do not know about the condition of the inside of the motor. I figure it needs to be rebuilt. The motor is mostly complete except the AC compressor is missing. The brakes barely work and the parking brake has been disconnected. The shaker assembly is there. but it's sitting on an incorrect Edelbrock carburetor. so it will have to be modified to sit on it properly. I bought this car just last year so I don't know much more about it other than what I can see on the surface. I've barely climbed underneath. but it looks good from what I could see. It still has the catalytic converter. so the car hasn't been messed with that much. I would recommend seeing the car in person if possible. Payment is due in 7 days in the form of cash or cashier's check. Car will be relisted after that. Buyer is responsible for verifying the condition of the car and for transportation. I can help load the car if necessary. Car can't be loaded on the trailer under its own power. so plan accordingly. If buyer pays in cash in person. I will knock off $100. 00. Clear title in my name. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks! On Mar-13-15 at 08:51:58 PDT. seller added the following information:If you have less than 10 on your feedback score. I will cancel your bid. Thanks.
