Description for Porsche 911 1970
When Porsche introduced the 911 in 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, t was a remarkable leap forward from the Porsche 356, hich ceased production in 1965. Equipped with a 2.0L flat-6 cylinder engine compared to the 356s 90 HP, 582CC, lat-4 cylinder engine the 911 was a much better performing car and offered the best technology of the day. Like the 356, he 911 had a small backseat, ut the interior was much more modernly appointed and designed. The automotive press and motoring enthusiasts embraced it wholeheartedly. In 1967 Porsche introduced the 911T, r Touring, odel. The 911T was the new entry-level 911, osting about 10 percent less than the 911S. Equipped with the 2.0L, lat-6 cylinder engine, he T generated 110 HP. In 1970, the motor was upgraded to 2.2L was fed through Zenith carburetors to create 125 HP. The cars produced from model years 1970 to 1973 are very desirable to collectors due to their light weight and traditional clean lines. In order to deal with Government safety and emissions regulations, he 911 became heavier and heavier, ltimately becoming fitted with large impact bumpers in the 1974 and a finicky smog control system.***There are quite a few pictures and a video attached to this auction page, lease allow time for them to load***
I have owned this 1970 Porsche 911T since 2001. Less than 7 months ago, t underwent a complete motor rebuild of the 2.2 liter motor, ncluding new main/rod bearings, ead work and the like. The motor is a date correct 1970T case, tamped 6105041. It doesn't leak any oil or smoke whatsoever. The Zenith carbs were overhauled and diaphragms were replaced with new composite material that is much better suited to todays fuel blends. The car runs very well and makes great sounds. The engine compartment was refreshed with the engine out and has a new factory sound pad.
The 901 transmission shifts well and and precisely with a short shifter. There are no issues with worn synchromesh or excessive noise. It's truly a pleasure to shift and has the dog-leg first gear that has its origins in the factory race cars.
The car rides and handles nicely with the optional factory "S" front sway bar. The steering is a pleasure as well; it is light and provides positive feedback to the driver like an early Porsche should. Brake calipers were rebuilt and the master cylinder was replaced, ielding a brake pedal pressure that is firm and consistent. The front and rear suspensions were cleaned, epainted, nd look great. The Fuchs alloy wheels have also been re -painted / polished and the tires have plenty of tread left.
This 911T has been repainted in its original factory paint code of 1818, Albert Blue" and still bears the original paint color code tag in the driver's door. All windows and trim were removed prior to paint and the finished job had no ugly overspray. All weatherstripping and rubber was replaced during this process, eflective of the detail that shows throughout the car. This 911T was equipped with the wide "S" deco rocker panels and wide bumper trim. as part of the appearance package. Believed to be an original California car, here is no rust on the car and the body panels fit nicely. The front trunk compartment and the gas tank were also refinished. Upon very careful inspection, here are a few minor flaws, uch as tiny rock chips and light scratches in the paint. The imperfections are few and are difficult to see from even a foot away. Overall, he car presents very well and is ready to be driven and enjoyed without the reservations of driving a perfect show car around. It really looks beautiful!!! Please see the attached high resolution pictures.
The black interior has been completely redone and looks practically new. The factory door pockets were refinished with German vinyl while the cabin was fitted with new Perlon carpet, new full ivory headliner, recovered package tray, nd new front and rear black leather seats. The original door cards were in remarkably good condition and were simply cleaned and re-fitted. The dash was recovered and basketweave dash trim renewed with radio delete plate. The gauges have been cleaned, nspected, nd wear new bezels. They all function with the exception of the clock.
The experience of driving an early 911 is truly amazing and this is why they remain among the most sought after collector vehicles in the world. This is a beautiful example of a vintage Porsche 911 that will surely continue to appreciate in value in the future. They are simply not making these air-cooled beauties anymore.; nice, nmolested examples are hard to find, specially in this beautiful and desirable factory color. This car represents a turn key investment with the expense of a motor rebuild, aint, nd interior already completed. All it needs is a new owner.
I have bought and sold a number of collector vehicles on ebay and understand it can be a daunting prospect. I will assist a buyer in whatever ways I am able to, ut please remember the following:
The car is sold without warranty and "as is". This is a used car. Specifically, his is a 45 year old used Porsche. Despite how lovely it appears, lease so not expect a showroom condition new car. I have done my best to describe it accurately. The miles may be slightly higher than the auction ad, as the car is still being driven. I always encourage and will assist any prospective buyers with a pre-purchase inspection at their expense at any reputable shop in the LA area. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. I am happy to send additional pictures at a buyers request. The car is very close to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and I can facilitate transportation there for International shipping. The car is advertised locally and is subject to a prior sale. A $1000. dollar deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close (Paypal ok) with the balance payable in Cash, ashier's check, r wire transfer.
