Description for Porsche 911 1976
1976 Porsche 912e that has been converted into a 911 Slantnose (Flachbau). I purchased this as a project and it is a very cool car! The work done so far is very high quality. This is a running and driving project. I would estimate it is 90% complete. It featured a 2.7l flat 6 engine from a 1982 911 that was rebuilt in 2004 by Motor Meister Inc in California. I understand it features a rare 4 speed Transmission. It has a great gear ratio that really gets you going. The transmission shifts smooth and great. I am not sure of the miles on the car as it is not the original speedometer/odometer. I have taken it recently for a 100 mile trip and did not have any problems. I was given many "thumbs up" by other drivers.
It has very nice Guards Red paint with only a few imperfections. The tires and wheels are in great condition with about 95% remaining. They are monsters with the rears being Yokohama AV1 345/35/zr15 and the fronts Centennial Interceptor 225/50/r15. No spare tire is included. The floor boards are clean and the car is straight showing no signs of ever being in an accident. The rear tail "wing" is genuine porsche and not a reproduction. The front trunk is solid and needs a good cleaning, ainting and carpet. The floorboards are solid.
The dashboard needs to be cleaned or updated as do the gauges. All the gauges are working except the tachometer. I have not troubleshot the problem. It has no radio. Really the entire dash should be rewired. Also, t needs new sun visors. The headlights, ail lights, rake lights, urn signals all work. Interior lights still need to be completed. The rear reflector needs to be attached. It has a Turbo emblem on the back. I would remove it since the engine is not a turbo.
The engine does have an oil leak. It would be a good idea to re gasket it. With a 100 mile test drive I did not need to add oil after. It is still drivable before it is repaired. It drips about 10-15!drops after the engine is stopped. It also smokes at startup. It clears up after a minute or two. This seems to be very common on many of the air cooled porsche 2.7l engines. The car has a lot of get up and go as you would expect from a Porsche. Also, he transmission grounding strap needs cleaning or replacing. When the car is hot it is sometimes difficult to start because of the strap. I have a new grounding strap that will be included. It is not a difficult task from under the car. Currently, he heat is not hooked up and I an not certain if the cable going to the vents works. I never planned to drive it in winter. The car does not have air conditioning. The front windshield wipers work. It does not have a rear wiper. Also, t does not have a sunroof. It also needs the "shocks" to hold the hood and engine compartment open. I use a stick.

Overall, his is a fun and affordable project to complete. I just have too many projects at this time and need to get rid of a couple. It only has upward potential. The 1967 912e is virtually the same car as the 911 but came with a smaller engine. This one has been upgraded to a 911 engine.
