Thanks.1966 Porsche 912 Short Wheel Base Coupe Massive Restoration Just Completed, actory Rare Color of Aga Blue. Factory 5 gage. Meticulous restoration to show quality just completed. Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (C.O.A.) included. This is an amazing early Long Nose, hort Wheel Base 1966 Porsche 912 that has been restored to its original condition in a painstaking year long process. It had been stored indoors in a garage, ry and clean, or over 23 years and was a true survivor. The car was really nice when I found it. It's as close to perfect and Original as I could make it now. This 912 has only 108,092 original miles and has always been very straight and Bondo free. It has had only 2 owners since new. I believe the secret to an excellent restoration is a good starting point. Finding a rust free survivor is not as easy as it once was and finding it with the original engine and transmission is more difficult still. Aga Blue? Next to impossible. I was blown away by how dry and complete this car was. Everything was there right down to the Blaupunkt and steel wheels and hubcaps. The Porsche had been in a garage for 23 years. Parked and forgotten. When I found this treasure it had four flat tires and was under an old blanket. Luckily there were no signs of trouble. No rodent nests or urine smells. No rust, o partial work started.. This car was just sitting. I made the deal, ought the car and had it towed to my favorite restoration shop. I also ordered the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.. I wanted to find out if the engine and transmission were original to the car.. I learned that the engine is original, ut somewhere in the last 48 years the transmission was replaced. With this information I now knew the car deserved the best I could give it. First I had the guys at the shop completely disassemble the car. They numbered and cataloged everything. Every piece was inspected and either refurbished or replaced with the best available vintage part. I used very few reproduction replacement parts if any. I had the seats and dash sent off to my upholsterer so he could get started. The seats were actually still very nice and only required one small panel on the driver's side. The door panels were also saved by using the original vinyl, ut installing new backing since the old backboard was warped. My restoration specialist is the real deal. Old school proper work. He actually used a razor blade by hand and peeled most of the old paint off this car one centimeter at a time. He then hand fit each piece. Both doors, ood, onnet and engine cover, nd both bumpers too. Every line and every fitment is perfectly gapped and straight. Once fitted it was again taken back apart for final prime and paint. I had him use the exact type and factory paint color of Aga Blue. This is the Porsche color that was original to the car. The paint is gorgeous. It is a very difficult color to capture with a camera. It looks almost black at evening times and bright and blue in the sunshine. He used all new rubbers when re-re-assembling the car. The Porsche also received new Deco trim. The underside of the car is almost as nice as the top. It is very dry and uniformly undercoated. The undersides of vintage Porsches are just as important as the top sides and much more difficult to restore. Hopefully the underside pictures of this car show how nice it really is under there. The chrome or brightwork on the car is still quite nice and original. It has been cleaned and polished where needed and retains its original Patina. The Original Porsche steel wheels were also restored at the paint shop. They were painted inside and out and clear coated too. The black center crest hubcaps were polished and refurbished and are stunning on the car. Once the paint was done I sent the car to the Upholstery shop where the new carpets, ash, nd headliner were installed. I used German Square weave carpet and a German factory correct headliner in the process. The rear parcel shelf was also rebuilt and the under the dash speaker was re-coned and rebuilt. Once the interior was complete, brought it back to my shop for final completion where the windows were installed with factory Porsche Rubbers. Next we rebuilt the calipers, nstalled new pads and resurfaced the rotors. We also installed new brake lines and a new master cylinder. I Upgraded to brand new H-4 headlights and replaced the broken fog lights with new old stock period correct Warn chrome fog lights. Brand new Pirelli tires were also installed carefully on the restored wheels. The badges were then put back on the car. I used new factory Porsche lettering and a 912 badge from Stoddard on the deck lid and the original Porsche Crest on the hood with a new gasket. The engine tin was powder coated and a new engine insulation sound pad kit installed. A new clutch and pressure plate were installed, s well as a resurfacing of the fly wheel. The engine valve cover gasket seals and sump gasket seal were also redone. The engine also received new plugs, lug wires, ap and rotor. The factory Solex carbs were also rebuilt at that time and the valves were also adjusted. Once running, had the motor inspected for leakdown values and compression and was impressed by how well the engine scored. 154-154-160-151 all with less than 10% leakdown. The engine runs very smoothly, ccelerates nicely. The 4 speed 902/1 transmission is flawless and all the syncros including 1st gear work just and they should. Up and down. This car behaves in all ways exactly as it should. From the windows to the blinkers to the heat exchangers and door lock cylinders I did not forget a thing The Porsche comes with receipts, wners manual, factory jack and tool kit. The Certificate of Authenticity shows that the options are correct and original on the Porsche and the engine is matching number correct. The Porsche comes with a clean and clear vintage title.
