If you want the very best I believe this is the one for sure. Original owner is famous Porsche/Audi race car driver John Buffum. John Buffum owned the car for close to 40 years. John Buffum is also known as the greatest Rally car driver ever as he won many championships under Audi Quattro and also competed in the first Cannonball Run with his wife Vicky. It was then sold to the manager of Stoddard Porsche where a rottisserie restoration was done. There he oversaw that the restoration was done to the highest level possible! There are absolutely no aftermarket parts used. Steve had access to O. E. M. Porsche parts as alot of rare parts were stashed away at many Porsche dealerships throughout the world. The fact that this 914-6 had only 35. 00 original miles he was able to use alot of original parts as the interior is 100% original. White River Jct. . VT in August 1971 (have the original invoice). John would drive this around town and to local race tracks such as Watkins Glenn. John enjoyed driving the 914-6 as he felt that this was the best handling/balanced Porsche at the time. John also was racing for Porsche as he had just competed in LeMans in a 914-6 GT. John kept the car until approx. 2008 and then sold it to the manager of Stoddard Porsche. A complete rotisserie nut and bolt restoration was then performed. The mileage is true and accurate and supported by both registrations and receipts as there are substantial receipts and records. EXTERIOR: This 914-6 was ordered with rare Metallic Green which was a upgrade to the standard colors. The paint is absolutely perfect and was done by a very high end body shop using Glasurit (German) paint. Windshield is original Sigla glass and is like new. All stainless trim was either new or polished and is perfect. All doors. hood and trunks open and close as they should. All panels are original and this 914-6 was never in any accidents. All lights work great and headlights are the original H4's. Wheels are the original 14" Fuchs and ride on original like new Michelin X's 185 HR 14 as they were originally equipped with. Targa roof is in excellent original condition. Front and rear valances are original and are also in perfect condition with correct texture/finish. Doors. ood and headlight alignment/gaps are perfect and fit is correct. Overall the exterior finish and appearance is like new (actually better). INTERIOIR: The interior is all original and is in perfect condition. The dash has no cracks or repairs of any kind and looks like new. Carpets also are original and there are no stains. ares etc. All original gauges work and are accurate. Interior light works as it should. Original Blaupunkt Frankfurt(dealer installed) works great on both am/fm. Seatbelts are original and look like no one had ever used them as the date labels appear like new. Horns. oor locks. mergency brake. azard switch and heat controls work perfect. The original leather steering wheel has no tares or scratches and is original to this 914-6. Overall this interior is show ready!ENGINE/MECHANICS: While this 914-6 was undergoing restoration all mechanical parts were also being either restored or replaced with new Porsche parts. Both the Engine and Transmission are original to this 914-6. All mechanical labor was performed by Porsche mechanics. The engine was dis-assembled and rebuilt to factory specifications. New clutch. lywheel and t bearing are also new. Brakes. suspension bushings. fuel and brake lines were also replaced. Thje Muffler and all four Koni shocks are new. Factory heater boxes are perfect. This 914-6 starts up immediately. idles nicely and drives straight and true. The transmission shifts into all gears with ease and precision. The car is both fun and exciting to drive and handles like new. SUMMARY: This 914-6 has had a wonderful past as it has been both maintained and cared for by well respected Porsche owners. It's always been garaged and serviced to the highest level.
