Description for Porsche 356 1965

1965 Porsche 356SC Coupe Matching #'s Last Year of 356 Third Owner

I am pleased to offer this 1965 Porsche 356 SC coupe. 1965 was the final year of production for the classic Porsche 356 making this car a very collectible Porsche. The SC model included an upgraded 95HP pushrod motor. Car retains it’s original color combination of signal red with black vinyl interior (according to the pictured Kardex). VIN # is 221701 and mileage on the odometer shows 4423 (actual mileage is unknown).

Car is being offered by only the third owner. Two previous owners with the last owning the car for 46 years and the original owner for the first 5 years. A bare metal restoration and drive train rebuild was done in the mid nineties but the car still shows very well today and is mechanically sound. The original date matching wheels were just recently re -chromed and new tires were mounted, as well as rebuilding the disc brakes. The car drives very well and is a blast to drive.

1965 SC Production Estimate:

According to my research (cannot be confirmed): According to the production data in Brett Johnson’s book, for the 1965 calendar year, Porsche built 485 type 616/16 engines. Of course not all of those went into 356C cars built in that year, but one can still make reasonable estimate that of the 1,101 coupes and 588 cabriolets built in that year maybe 30% had SC engines installed in them. So that would be about 330 SC coupes.
